Just wondering whats the current cost shops charge now days?
10 to 12 k could be cheaper if flywheel is resurfaced etc vs new one This is pricing for a good indy Sent from my moto g power using Tapatalk
Cost me $9500 with new throwout bearing and new flywheel and change of rear main seal at same time in past six months
FYI: Paid 11K including the installation of my Challenge Headers back in Dec 2022 from an independent Ferrari mechanic in NJ. This was for a new clutch, pressure plate, flywheel, all-new hardware, seals, new accumulator, and Hill Engineering bearing.
I'm into the parts for my replacement at around $5k, but am doing it myself. Some of these prices seem very fair to have it done. In addition to all hardware, seals and a Hill TOB, I bought a new position sensor. It's good to change it while you're in there.
Amazing: The two jobs from the same shop are within $2.01 of each other, even though the parts and labor are quite different. What are the chances? Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Parts went up Labor was different most likely fir other things done at same time .. either prorated or added into (e.g. headers) Sent from my moto g power using Tapatalk
The difference is that mine had an accumulator and headers installed. The other one had a bleeder union block replaced and as Dominick pointed out the prices went up. For example, my clutch was $2796.16 in 2022 vs $3716.33 in 2023, almost 28% more which is what true inflation seems to be these days in the states. Don't want to turn this into a P&R thread, but I was at Costco the other day and a pack of steaks that was $35 in 2021 and $50 in 2022 is now $75. I used to pay $325 for an oil change on my GT3 at the dealer and now it's $500. I know 1st world problems, and I hate to change oil myself due to the mess and having to deal with recycling the old oil.
I looked at the Challenge headers at eurospares uk and they were 800 pounds 2 years ago... now they are 1800! Silly me, should have bought them then and just keep them until needed.
It has been explained to me by many mechanics over many years that the "markup" is really their cost to warranty the labor if the part goes bad and they need to go back to their parts source under warranty. So just buying the part at the cheapest price and then bringing it to your mechanic may not be the best approach as most mechanics will then not warranty the work if a part is defective and will make you pay for the labor again. Not worth it on such an expensive job unless you are doing the work yourself.
Agree in spirit, was more looking at the pure parts price inflation aspect. I don't think the clutch/flywheel parts themselves increased that much from last year.
The prices did go up a lot for parts. I just went to order a replacement back interior window because of some fogging. It was about $600 later year including shipping and now it’s over $1000. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Don’t know. Mine was bad…. It was scored from my “exploded” release bearing. No refinishing for that problem. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
No ..as long as you get a good flywheel shop to resurface ..if really good shape ..a little Scotch Brite can do the trick Sent from my moto g power using Tapatalk
The clutch is the same price it was in November 2021. Other items, like the release bearing, and F1 sensor have gone up in price.
