Hello all, Are correct wiper blades available for our 308's? My 83 has Bosch snap in type are these correct? My 85 has blades that I have to snap a picture of because I've never seen these before. What did these come from the factory with? Sorry for all the questions ..... Bob
You really want to find just the insert, if you are lucky enough to have the original wipers at this point. The market has gone to replacing the whole thing, but try to find just the rubber insert.
BigTex, What I'm looking for is the metal blade and rubber, I have the arms. The 83 I have has a Bosch blade attached to the arms. Don't know if this is correct or Trico. I have also heard I might have to get the entire thing as well. Thanks, Bob
You will have to find what I now call "a real parts store"....for the insert. All the big chains now only stock the whole head unit. Bosch or Trico both are fine as far as a brand, in my experience. The only one I have ever had fail to track the curve of my glass was RainX, oddly enough...I use their liquid products, for surface treatment.
Bob, I just ordered a replacement set for my '85 308 GTSi from ItalianCarParts.com, up in Oregon. They'll sell you the replacement set. The site looks like it's been the same since 1996, but they have a great inventory of parts. Ferrari & Lamborghini Parts Supplier. Maserati, Alfa Romeo & Fiat Parts Supplier Scroll down to -> Exterior, Body & related parts Window wiper blade kit, OEM, 2 blades, 308/qv/328: #fr62026 $54.50 set If you can find just the rubber blades, though... go for it.
The rubber blades are not the issue as much as the blade it self , I believe , is incorrect. I may be wrong. I need to post a shot of the metal blade so you can take a look. I'll get one tonight when I get home. Thanks. I maybe over thinking this whole thing ! Lol ! Bob
Big Tex is correct -- the refill is the direction to go -- assuming you have the original hardware, which I did. My notes on the subject having recently replaced mine: Ferrari 308 Wiper Blade Refill Wiper blade arm assembly on this car is the one that came with the car when new. For replacement inserts use Bosch PN 43318. Ignore any of the "hardware" such as plastic clips or metal pieces in the box. Ignore any instructions on the box. The best solution is to carefully remove the rubber from the existing hardware and re-use the existing hardware with the new replacement inserts. At the right end of the wiper is the separate little metal piece that holds the wiper blade rubber insert in place. You can pinch the two pieces on the left side of the separate metal piece in order to pull it through from left to right through the right most sleeve bracket in order to remove the blade. Carefully cut or separate the rubber blade from the hardware. Then, install the new replacement insert in the old existing hardware. Then, re-install the blade into the blade arm assembly.
Here's a picture of the metal blade. Does this look familiar to anyone? Question is, is it original. I'm preparing this car to show that's the reason for all the wiper talk!! Thanks for entertaining all the questions. Bob Image Unavailable, Please Login
They are the same as the ones on my 85 and I have no reason to suspect they've been changed, so AFAIK those look to be correct and original.
This is in fact an 85 as well. A very original car. I was all set to change these. I believe the mystery is solved ! Thanks for all the replies gents, really appreciate it. Bob
Definitely keep the frames and just change the rubbers- the frames are not easy to come by and are usually quite expensive.
Yes, that's original. the wire frame offeres a lot less wind resistance, and when you find the right refills, my experience is they WILL clip in without many mods. The Trico have an end clip, and you squash it with needle nose pliers and it releases, to slide out. Clip the new one in, and off you go!
Where the wire frame blades originally a black semi-gloss or a flat black finish? I am re-spraying my original wiper blades this weekend. Mine are now definitely very flat black (with patches of bare steel) but without further information I will re-spray them semi-gloss black to match the rest of the black stuff in the vicinity.
Brian A My blades are more flat black than semi-gloss, they seem to be the original finish. However they are 30 years old !! My 83 has Bosch blades that are semi-gloss.
Rustoleum Bar B Que Black, is perfect. You can see they are a lot less gloss, than the black anodized windshield moldings.
Bar B Que paint? ... ... BARBEQUE PAINT!!!! You want me to paint my exotic Italian sports car with BARBEQUE PAINT?????!!!??? ... ok. I'm over it. I checked the hardware store at lunch time and all they had were quart cans ($16!!!). Instead, I am going to splash together a little Rustoleum flat black and satin black and call it good. Good to know. I will target flatter than the arms but shinier than they are now. All is well. Thank you to all.
It's in the spray can section... I use it for my Boxer trim too! The rear diaper and ANSA muffler parts, you do have to spring the $$$ for VHT High Heat.
Horrors. A rattle can is far too easy. I use an airbrush: 15 minutes of prep, 45 seconds of spraying, 30 minutes of clean-up.
Ha! Sometimes I spring for those aerosols you can load the paint in the jar.... An airbrush would be a good tool to have on the workbench!
I just looked at my 85 308QV US model and the blades look just like your picture. Upon closer look, it also has the words Carello Licenza Trico
I originally bought -- and learned how to use -- an airbrush to touch up minor curb rash (from the first owner!) on my Cromadoras. I bought this: Paasche VLST-PRO Double Action. They are pretty easy to use actually. The hardest part has been learning how to custom tint paint. Even the black on the 308 is really various shades of dark gray and with various sheens.
