A friend of ours is a doctor at Ipswich hospital and says it’s almost empty because of the ‘expected’ wave. He’s been calling BS on all of it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I completely agree. I think we've done a great job as a country so far. I was just pointing out that everyone from President Trump, the WHO, the MJA, all the way down to Dr. Ning Nong really had no idea how this was all going to go.
He should just be relieved - maybe he could pop over to NY and help out there? Looks like we've dodged a bullet either through good luck or good management or, more likely, a combination of both.
Quite possibly Karen. I’m not arguing or agreeing, but I look at other historical events which have been labelled pandemics and nothing to this extent has been done before. Have we saved the planet from hundreds of millions of deaths, maybe. Have we been witness to one of the largest orchestrated economic ‘resets’ since the Great Depression, perhaps. Time will tell. If Ning Nong could tell us how many deaths we would have had if we’d tracked the same as Italy, France, Spain or the US of A, then that may show we have definitely dodged a bullet. I really don’t know why anyone would doubt what we have done in Australia - just look at the results! Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
I reckon you’re right. We just need to keep it up for a while longer. Unfortunately. I’m reading that some poor folk in South Korea have retested Positive after previously been cleared. Small number around 50 though. Still way too early to know what is going to happen IMO.
SA Health announced this afternoon a vaccine trial (using an existing TB vaccine - BCG) will start immediately, involving 500 health workers.
I hope it’s successful. Are you classified as a Health Worker Steve? Could this common vaccine be used to fight against COVID-19? A new clinical trial is set to find out http://www.abc.net.au/news/2020-04-11/trial-to-test-if-tuberculosis-vaccine-boosts-covid-19-immunity/12142230
I do too, Wes. Yes both of us are, but we haven’t heard anything from work about this trial. I think it will be restricted to hospital workers for now.
Within the last 24 hours, Australia has reached the point of more Recovered Cases than Open Cases. And sadly 56 Deaths. Open Cases 3,105 Recovered 3,141 Deaths 56
Are you a statistician? Can you put that in percentages so we can all understand? Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
