    Matthias,

Here is the Corona pump when taken off my car 04054. It was black with the BCD sticker. I had it restored to the gold cad finish after reading your Compendium. That may have been a mistake if you have now seen another with a black painted finish.

The pump casing which you had gold cad finished needs to be removed from the aluminum lower pump casting before plating. It is a slip on fit then secured by three peened points.
How in the heck did you remove those peens?
I've broken a number of picks, resisted a miniature drill hole and scratched my head on how to get those peens out. Any help is much appreciated.

Ended up just shining the original, preserved the tag too.

that looks like a mistake.... but the black on the filter doesn`t look original! Should be grey with yellow print...
my picture is from an untouched Feb. 1972 US-model, your Dino is Mai 1972, so close by...
    anybody else with black pumps?
to me it looks like the early ones from 1971 until at least mid 1972 have been black, later ones yellow cad...

Respectfully disagree, some fuel filter canisters were black, my Euro GTS is black with yellow FISPA lettering.
Perhaps Grey only was a US destination item?
Never seen any other parts of the fuel filter painted black besides the canister

I agree the top of the filter (lid) was never painted black

we need more examples please... the E-series mess is unbelievable .....

Francis, do you think it`s still the original one, or was it replaced during life time?
Is your fuel filter canister grey or black?

Miniflex I've seen no. 1 or 2 markings
On 05702 I found originals on the fuel vent hoses, plated them and they're still in great condition

PS - Giotto's mounting bracket is upside down, the edge cutouts go around the protruding casting ears

The car was untouched when I bought it Matthias and I'm certain the filter was original. Tom Shaugnessy is currently selling an identical filter that is all black as well.

Iain, I agree, that looks totally original... seems a very rare version...
so the FISPA print (is not the early version, not the late version)
see #05304: yellow cad pump, grey filter... but also grey painted lid and the rare FISPA print!

looks like complete Fispa fuel filter mess during E-series... I love it!

    :)))
#03666 didn't have an Fispa fuel filter factory fitted originally
only from #03678 the filter was factory fitted, but a few early E-series received an fuel filter on warranty by Ferrari

from #04068 the Corona fuel pump received a new part number (607E-821427)
    until #04066 (607E-821087)

maybe until #04066 black ones, from #04068 yellow cad

is there a difference between black ones and the yellow cad ones?

    Matthias,

Alfa used a similar FISPA filter in their SPICA injected models - the Montreal and US market spiders. These had black cannisters (but a different head fitting) so it looks like FISPA produced a variety of finishes and this is likely the reason why different versions ended up in E series cars as they likely simply sent out whatever colour they had recently batch produced.

Here is a filter from a Montreal.
