That is an amazing shot! How did they get all those gliders in a formation like that with all those engines stopped?
I was thinking the same thing, Jim. It must have ben ground- shaking with 36 of those props beating the air into submission.
I shouldn't say it but Iv'e been there ,done that. I posted it long ago about being at Larsen AB when they had a maximum effort scramble of everything on the base, KC-135's and B-52's. I can't remember how many exactly but at least 12 KC-135's started it and then at least that many B-52's launched. The noise and smoke was incredible. I don't know how the hell the B-52's kept from hitting somebody but we could see them moving to the left or right after lift off. Nothing is as painful as a KC-135 at 100% with water injection. I have seen this twice and it is always impressive.
