I currently own a F355 Spider, and a Porsche 930. I'm considering adding a Testarossa. My local F car dealer has a white on white Testarossa it's an '89 with 12,000 miles on it. They are asking $80K. Supposedly had the engine out service 2 years ago, and an annual service very recently. The car is beautiful, but I haven't driven it yet, in fact I've never driven a Testarossa. This car has the sills painted white and 17" non original wheels. The dealer says its one of 3 white/white TRs imported into the US. My questions are:
    Is white/white really that rare?
Is white/white a desirable combo in the resale marketplace?
    Is $80 K a reasonable price?

    Here is a pic.

    Thanks[IMG]

    Yes

No. White with tan or blue or black is OK but I can't imagine white/white ever being terribly desired. Red, blue or black are good sellers. Any other color less so. We have a white TR and I really like the color but not as well accepted by most and the white interior cuts out another big block of buyers.

Probably too high. 80 for any TR is pretty big money but a not terribly original TR in and odd color combo, 80 is out of the question.

We sold Jose Canseco a white/white TR. The only one I have ever seen.

    What color is the dash?

Depends on your motive - Is white /white your ultimate color combo, is that your thing, or is this one that happened to pop up while you were looking?

Unless you specifically want that combo and don't intend to ever sell - go for it, otherwise find a red / tan or black / black or some such combo which appeals to you and which you can sell one day if you wish to.

I've seen a white/white TR on the market before but the interior had black dash, console, carpets and arm rests on the doors (the rest white).

To me the combination worked well but like Rifledriver says, only appealing to a specific segment of the market (me included), and not for a premium price. .

I would stay away from any car with a light colored dash. You'll see why on the first sunny day.

I notice the skirts have been painted white on this one. I wonder if that is the limit of the repaint?

Jose's car had a white dash. It was dangerous to drive.

When the order was placed the factory asked if we were sure it was correct and advised against it.

It was a good fit for the owner.

The white exterior is totally hot....just saw one on the Wolf of Wall Street. Interior? Not so much. Of course who am I to diss an interior...I have a car with a yellow/red 2 tone interior...LOL

If you love the car, you can always pay $10k or so and change it out.

Bottom edge painted white (not factory) and the rims are terrible. For 80K I would want a more original car.

Thanks for the replies. You confirmed my thoughts and fears over the car. For 60 I would consider it, I like the combo, to me it's very '80s. The dash and carpets are black so the contrast is pretty cool. I'm not a fan of the wheels but the painted sills look good to me, even if not original. I'll continue to look for either a Red or White TR...

I couldn't live with those wheels, or a white interior & for that reason I think a resale would be hard work.
I don't think 80,000 usd is that bad..... Over here they start at £60k, which is probably 100,000 usd at the mo.
We have some advertised @ £100k, so 160,000 usd????

But....... If you love the white on white then who cares..... Budget for Cambelts again as they're due soon & do a deal.

If you like it, buy it at what you are comfortable paying. There is an old saying "there is a butt for every seat" in the market. Regardless of what is said there are others (ie Canseco) wanting a white on white car and when the time comes (might take awhile) they will pay top dollar.

I had a white/white 35th AE Corvette years ago and loved the unique color combo and based on discussion here with other white/white car owners, you can see others do too.

I believe that white Testarossa comes with the original wheels. Not sure. And a previous owner claimed he had paperwork that showed the car came like that from the factory, with white lower sills. I called BS but I don't know for sure.

But yeah, for $80k, the car should be original and as shown, this car isn't original.

    I like the White/White.

The car looks good in it. And a much rarer treat.
