As the title states, I'm thinking about buying a 458 Speciale and am a Ferrari newbie (coming from the Porsche world). What are some of the must-have and really nice-to-have options that I show look for? Thanks in advance.

There appear to be two subtypes of Speciales out there:
    1. Close to launch spec with stripes, a lot of CF, badges, Alcantara, etc.
    2. The more stealth, “super Italia,” with no stripes, I've even eye’d a beautiful example with no shields, less exterior CF, leather.
    Depends on which you like.

I think base interiors come with full CF and LED lights. Don’t bother with radio upgrade IMO, you can’t hear it anyway and I doubt many would care. I’ve never felt I needed a lifter.

Just about every Speciale is special.

I really like this video as an answer to your question.

What was wild for me is that my wife actually liked the launch spec. I almost didn't show her the spec because I just assumed she wouldn't like it.

The base radio is laughably bad. The worst car stereo I've ever owned, edging out some 80's economy cars.

I was surprised with how bad it is. It's probably on par with that in the Lotus Elise.

It is just a matter of personal taste and how you plan to use the car as to which are the must have options. When I bought mine, the suspension lifter was a must have because of driveways in my area. Others disagree and don't care about it. Now however, the suspension lifter is advertised as a kit from Ferrari Genuine so you can add it later. For me, my list went like this: Not yellow or red, suspension lifter, lots of carbon, Alcantara. Among other things, I ended up with front and rear parking sensors and Homelink, which I really like and a backup camera which I really don't care about. That is me. You might care about completely things. The way the Speciale market is right now, you might not have a lot of choices.

As far as the radio goes, I never use mine. The music that I want comes from the naturally aspirated thing behind me.

Thanks gang, very helpful. I'll probably be more active in the market next year for the year but wanted to do some research beforehand.

Well it's gonna be more expensive as each year passes so...

P.S. And stop thinking about the radio, everything else is top notch =D

Prices have risen 15-20% on Speciale's in the last year.

...I would be shocked if Speciale prices ever drop again. I remember when F40s were $400K.

Next year, even more people will be aware that Ferrari's downsized electric-turbo future, the V8 in the Speciale will never be repeated, the car is quite special by all reports..demand will remain high because fewer will want to order a new Ferrari, so, where will they go when upgrading their collection? The back catalog, that's what is happening, it seems the trend will only accelerate, at some point, probably with 2 years, maybe 3, the back catalog will be in such high demand, all prices will continue to appreciate and pre-owned inventory limited, even front engine V12s will have this situation.

This has never occurred before, Ferrari downsizing engines, going hybrid and within 4 years, all electric, there is a definite group of persons who are not asking for any of that, but, want the Ferrari experience....that's going to put a lot of pressure on the back catalog...

I recently purchased a Speciale. Does anybody know if they came with swag similar to what you get with a Pista - i.e. 1/64 model of car in actual purchased spec in presentation box?
