Come on it's still fun! You could say that Laguna Seca is overblown. The original race was on parts of 17 mile drive, now they have this fancy track. The great thing is that you can make the weekend what you want. You have choices.

I think it's great that Monterey has the largest and best cars shows in the world. Would you prefer it be in France?

I think this year will see a lot less turnout bcus of the economy

When I attended the track at Cavallino in Jan the only cars there were the Mega $$$$ vintage cars and a thimblefull of 360 race cars and challenge cars. The usual dozens of 360s were gone.

So I guess I'll take my F40 to the track in Jan as there should be a lot less traffic :)

The course looks great. A lot of activity as the final touches were being put into place. I will be there at 7:30am to place the car. I have been checking the weather in the morning, I figure the dew would not be a problem at that time.

How was the show everybody? I didn't end up going. I did notice that a lot of people went. For those that left the show I was the guy on the side of the road with the camera.

    Bll,
The first day of track is the 13th, with the driver's school late afternoon on the 12th. If you want to run the Z06 that is OK, you're going to get a lot of track time.

You put your life in his hands??? You are brave.

Too much going on here, out-of-town guest, etc.

Besides you guys were the guinea pigs.

So now that I know it was decent I'll go next year!

BTW, did he get any tickets?

NO, no ticket but on the way there on I-680 there were construction and the traffic was backing up. Man you should hear Rob said all kinds of foul language and some of them I never even heard off. But before that we met some people from Sac. at the Dublin Starbuck Coffee then met the rest over at Bernal Rd. in San Jose.

My two lira: I had a pretty good time. Easy parking but I arrived early enough to beat the rush. I did notice a line-up later in the morning, though, which was inevitable.

Saw lots of cool cars, as April has documented in the link above.

And, I had a chance to be in the same photo as Aaron (Perfusion here on F-Chat) and some Lambo-rep named Valentino Balboni ;) ... I will say that Valentino was very gracious to everyone that day. He was mobbed everywhere he went!

I'll be back next year :)

The head line on the Motor Trend website said it all.
"2009 Concorso Italiano Returns To Greatness"
Needless to say after last years "bad hair day" to put it mildly it was extremely gratifying to see all the happy faces, and to have the Italians back. Mrs Bertone was a delight and very well received. She graciously signed autographs and sun visors all day and had the energy to present the Bertone prototype at the Gooding tent that night. Luca Fiorvanti along with Tom Tjaarda and Piero Revolta had a wonderful time and commented the soul of Concorso had returned.
One special moment occurred while I was at the stage when Jay Leno presented the watch to Valentino Balboni. After Jay presented the watch and Valentino got back in his car and was about to drive off he looked at me for just a momentand I snapped his picture and saw a little mist in his eyes. I truly believe he was touched by this small but powerful symbol of appreciation. And this my friends is what Concorso Italiano is all about. A very touching moment in a very busy world with so few really true heros. Valentino is our hero and we appreciate him.
I can tell you it was a tremendous amount of work to over come the disaster of last year but Tom and his team along with some help from Janet and I, and of course ALL of you who had the faith to return after swearing "never" to return, well, you did return and together we pulled it off. Yes, Concorso is Back! and next year will be fine tuned and hopefully a knock out one two punch!
    Stay tuned,
    Ciao,
    Frank Mandarano
The Photos show Keith Martin with Henrick Fisker, Mrs Bertone with Michael Robinson, Luca Fioravanti Tom Tjaarda and Tom Matano, and a very Happy Piero Revolta signing books ant the Car Guy Tour tent
