Starting the rebuild of a burnt 355 shell. Picked it up just a couple weeks ago and I am planning on doing a full YouTube build blog.

I will be posting some updates here as well for ideas, parts, etc.

First couple episodes are up on by YouTube channel. Subscribe to the channel if you would!

Episode 1 - picking up the shell

Episode 2 - starting the build, weighing the shell

Looking forward to seeing the final result.

    Sticking with the 355 drivetrain?

Currently looking for the right donor. Chances are it wont end up with a factory drivetrain, but we will see.

I am going to need them for sure, but the plan is suspension, drivetrain and then body. I will keep you in mind when I start searching next year.

Nice project, and good luck! How close does this setup line up is what I would like to know. I suppose you need to delete the oil pan for sump. Image Unavailable, Please Login

Oh man, I've often thought about working over a BMW M70 motor to make it the S70 that came in the McLaren F1 if that's even possible. It's no 5 valve V8, but it could be a lot cheaper and really cool.

I have considered it, but I want to be able to do some cross country events and longer drives so electric isn't in the cards right now.

Overall progress was slow this week, but there are many things in the works.

I made a jig to make my own front lower control arms this week. Not 100% sure I will end up using it, but I wanted to have one around just in case.

Check out the new episode. Please subscribe if you would!

Is that metal thin for a jig? I would imagine a back bone as well would be used? Can't wait to see it unfold, really looks like fun. :)

No. Its plenty thick. The video may make it look thinner than it is, but its all 3/16" and 3'8".

Parts are taking quite a while to arrive, but we have some showing up so we will have an episode this weekend.

I have finally got some good progress on the front suspension setup.

I go over the parts and pieces we will be using to save some money on the major expenses and put together the mockup of the front suspension control arms and ball joints.

    Check out the video below.

Front suspension updates after a slow holiday period. Check out the video below. One last piece we are waiting on in order to weld up the front lower control arms.
