When the 16M came out, I was confused about its purpose. You take an f430, lighten it, stiffen it, add a little power and a faster shifting transmission, and you get a Scuderia. But then, you sacrifice some of that (?) just to cut the roof off again.

My wife and I drove an f430. It wasn’t enough to get me out of my modified Porsche Turbo for the difference in price. Same with the pre-LP Gallardos. Then we drove a Scuderia (twice). That was a great experience, better than what I have in every way. But the car came off as too loud with the sound bouncing around the closed cabin and for a weekend cruiser, we would both prefer an open top car.

So my question is how a 16M compares to a Scuderia and a f430 spider. Is it just like an open roof Scud? Is it softer than a Scud? How different is it than a f430 spider?

    Thanks

You need to have a drive. :)
I would say it is one of the best Ferrari's of all time - strong words I know. There will be many who say, what's the point of cutting the roof off a Scud (itself a wonderful car), to those people I would just say 'drive one'. I honestly believe not many car's will give a bigger grin, and that can be at normal road speeds or on track. Car's will constantly get faster, that is is progress, but it seems it is often at the detriment of driving enjoyment. The 16M is one of those cars that perhaps shouldn't work, but turns out to be better than the sum of it's parts. The CS is another such car.
A biased opinion, yes for sure ;)
