I almost forgot that this was this weekend. And thankfully the weather forecast looks good.

RSVP for one, for all of the Friday evening and Saturday activities, though I'm going to drive home after the Saturday dinner. Now all I have to do is make a hotel reservation.

I had thought that the last time that I had been at Julie's was two years ago, but when I went thru my photo stash I was reminded that on this weekend in 2013, I was in Indianapolis attending a rather significant race. So it had actually been since 2012.

I took advantage of having a Friday off to leave an hour early to account for the expected holiday traffic crunch, but while traffic was a bit heavier than usual, I probably only needed about 1/3 of that extra hour. I had time to stop at the S.C. Welcome Center and check in to the Fairfield Inn before heading to Julie's. I pulled in right behind John Denton's 550, and the Ferraris were backed in just outside the garage.

If you've never seen Julie's garage, you're missing a treat. Aside from the cars, there are the artifacts - models, posters, publications. I'd say that between the house and the garage, Coach I had collected just about every Ferrari publication that he could get his hands on! A new addition since my last visit was a BMW Isetta, which Julie picked up at the auction at the Microcar Museum in Madison; I understand that the car has been completely restored since.

We had a variety of finger foods to sample, and aside from the spirits shown, water, soft drinks, beer and wine were all on hand. I only posted a few photos of visiting cars (the custom Camaro in Clemson colors was spectacular) since I knew I'd see them all, in better lighting, on Saturday.

We enjoyed the party until about 7:30, when we hopped in our cars and took the 12-minute drive to the Portman Marina on Lake Hartwell, to enjoy a nice dinner at Nami Asian Bistro. About 20 of us sat at a u-shaped table in a private room; the rest shared two adjacent tables in the restaurant. The pace was leisurely, and we didn't see our entrees until after 9:30, but no one complained (at least as far as I could hear). The menu could be described as Japanese-American Fusion; I had a bagel roll appetizer (the nearest thing to "Jewish sushi"!) and a marvelous dish of baked salmon, though I admit that the mashed potatoes seemed a bit out of character. The price was much more reasonable than the last FCA dinner that I had attended. We were all able to get back to our hotels at a reasonable hour.

Saturday photos will be posted later. You'll note that there are no "people photos". I'm not really very good at those, so I'll leave those to David and the other photographers.

My plan for Saturday morning had been to watch Monaco GP qualifying from my hotel room before checking out, only to find, much to my chagrin, that the Fairfield Inn didn't have NBCSN on their otherwise-decent channel lineup. So I checked out after eating breakfast and drove over to the Hilton Garden Inn to see if I would have better success. I parked next to the other Ferraris in their lot and was fortunate to be able to watch qualifying on the TV over the bar next to the Hilton's breakfast area.

At Julie's, I was still one of the first cars there. The "home-standing" Ferraris were all parked in the center of the field in a star pattern, later to be joined by a 365 GT 2+2. The Isetta was driven down to near lakeside, as if to simulate a picnic setting.

The rest of the Ferraris were parked directly behind the house, at least most of them were. (Three giallo 355s elected to park together, elsewhere.) I don't know how big these gatherings had been in the preceding two years, but I eventually counted around 70 cars total, of which around 28 were Ferraris!

Eventually I got the best photos from either the second or third floors, and I thank David for showing me the way! I'll have more photos tomorrow or Wednesday.
