The CLK 63 BS has a slushbox and not a semi-auto, correct? Does the DTM have a true semi-auto or just an automatic with paddles to play around with?

Both have an automatic. The BS is the updated 7 speed version. However, the BS transmission is sublime in sport mode. Keeps the revs where you want them, seems to shift as I would if it were in manual. Torque brakes and the whole bit. In manual mode, it feels very similar to the F1 transmission, but the shifts are slower.

Problem with the clk63 BS is that mb unveiled the c63 for 54k usd. You have almost the same car for less than half the price of a clk63 BS.

But the interior in the C63 is nothing special compared to the CLK63 BS imo.

You have obviously never driven them back to back, on the track, or in a competitive situation.

Go do an AMG day where you can compare both cars in a competitive environment and you will come away with a different opinion. Using "freeway" criteria, you might just as well compare the Yugo to the C 63. Oh, and by the way the Black Series will give the F430 and GT3 a run for the money, in the fun factor.

100% true, many people think the Black Series is just another AMG Benz with a big engine and nothing more, but there are plenty of Stradale and 911 Turbo owners that will tell you otherwise, the Black Series is indeed a very special car and at today's prices a steal.

Just so that I'm clear, you are claiming that a C63 offers a comparable driving experience to a CLK63 Black Series?

I too am shocked by this comment. I'd be interested to read your driving dynamics comparison of both cars. I own the Black and have driven the C63 twice (although not on a track), I will agree that the straightline speed is fairly close, but 10000% of every other thing there is zero comparison.

    I suggest you read this.

I will read it, but I have a few other cars of my own to do comparisons.

When I first drove the C63 (at an AMG day) I thought wow what a car, and immediately thought "my son should buy one of these". I was really impressed. My next session was in the Black Series (which I own) and I just found it more responsive, easier to control, and to have a much better suspension. I was able to use the power/suspension to flick the rear end, maintain speed and the brakes were superior when needing to scrub off the speed.

Don't get me wrong, I think the C63 is a great car (and value) but it is no Black Series. If you are not at the edge, you'd never tell the difference. But isn't that true of all engineering?

I think in many respects the Black Series is the equal of the F430 and the GT3 (winning and losing on some of the comparisons). Yes there are differences, but for fun per $ it stacks up well; and with the current pricing the Black Series is the steal of the century.

Run don't walk, to buy the Black Series at current prices.

How do you like that ML? I have been thinking of picking one of those up. I have owned 2 AMG cars so far, one I still have it's a S class AMG. They all drop like a rock in price but man are they fun to drive. I had the S out last week and my buddy was driving he had the perma smile on his face the whole time. I would love to get the ML as with the snow around here the S is worthless in the winter.

Everbody puts the overpowered soccer mom car down...not me...This car is the equivelent of a Rothmans 911 paris dakar rallye car, with an SUV body on it...Every Tunnel I enter I put the window down to be entertained by that symphony of bass exhaust
I have a renn tech lowering kit and can drop it quite low for highway driving..510 Hp and a seven speed automatic...it does not know it is an SUV.
The AMG interior is pure sports..The brakes are incredible..Tires are monstorous..what more..It is a timeless car, You will never tire of it capabilities.

But most of all, it just feels safe!

    I Love It!
    Advise it Highly..

Except if you want good gas mileage!!!!!

Well ... they were released about 5 years ago ... <10k mile cars still bringing high $70s and into the $80s ... <20k mile cars still bringing high $60s and into the $70s

I bought mine in 2010 with <10k miles for $77k (market was softer than now) ... have added 10k miles and can still bring $70k +/-

There are some beat up and/or high milage cars that you may be able to get in the $50s, but don't confuse that with the true market.

I've had an NSX, 996 GT2, 360 Modena and a Challenge Stradale ... the BS gives as much joy as any of them (a lot less stressful than driving a Ferrari)

And when buying a car like this, why would someone worry about it being too stiff ... stock is plenty fine .. I added H&R performance springs and it is still comfortable on long drives. Also, the car is a 2-seater ... you don't buy this car to ride people in the back ... buy something else like a GTR or C63.
