Warm Weather permitted me to clean my car. I wanted to put the car cover for the first time since buying it. It has some water stains.

Anybody recommend how to clean it?

Has anybody tried using a regular washing machine and dryer?

I wash mine in the washer with cold water, then dry with very low heat until it was just a little damp, then open it up to dry the rest of the way. Hope this help. Worked very well for me.

2x... cold water, gentle/delicate cycle in the washer.

    Tumble dry, low heat.

Make sure it is the only item.

I have been wondering about washing my non red one. Do you guys put it in the washer with the car side out or the exterior side out and the car side sort of "internalized" in the bath. I know, I know....I am a black car guy so this kind of poop matters!

As mentioned - make it a sole item - in the washing machine on a "delicates" cycle - very short spin. I guess you could tumble dry but I always put on a drying rack. Works every time for me. Done it for years but only once every six months or so toget the dust and grit off

I bought a spare here off another Fchat member that washed his, plus even reported that he had his dry cleaned. It was shrunk to the size of a Dino. Ridiculous. Hung down to MAYBE the middle of the car. I really got a laugh out of it. So anyhow... Don't shrink it.

I washed mine last night for the first time, Cold water, Gentle(not hand wash), And tossed into the dryer on low and it auto stopped just before it got dry, Just maybe slightly damp in a few spots, Put over car to dry the rest of the way, and she was to looking new in about 15 min completely dry. No shrinkage

Thanks for inspiring me to wash mine!

Did the same way. Same results. Now looks new.
This is the cheapest Ferrari DIY ever.

I washed mine as stated by posts above.
Do you guys use the car cover only on a washed car? That's what I do. I read a detailer saying the cover would rub the dirt on paint and cause "micro scratches". It made sense to me.
So, at the end, the cover is useless unless you wash the car, cover it, and not use it for several weeks.

I basically dont put the cover unless I am sure there is no dirt on the surface. usually the cover is placed when it is in the garage. That helps prevent frequent washing which I do myself, and I am pretty busy. Its easier to put the cover than to spend 1 hr to wash and dry a car.

I think that each time you drive it you collect dirt, visible or invisible to naked eye. Still dirty after parking in the garage, correct? This is at least my case, therefore no cover for me.

My Spider gets a spray n wipe with Maguire's waterless wash n wax (with microfiber towels) and all glass cleaned before the cover goes on. Wheels are deferred since I can just draw the cover to do one end at a time.

"Alia" is made of sugar and never sees the rain.

I use same product. Was introduced to this from the guys at Meguires that were at Carmel/Pebble Beach Ferrari house wiping down everyones cars.

    Great product.

Quick wipe always before I put the cover back on. Doesn't matter if you drove to the end of the driveway, A sure way to rub scratches into your car is throwing the cover on a dusty car. If you've ever had a black show car, you'll know exactly what I mean. A quick wipe with wash and wax takes 5 min.

Thanks for sharing guys! And are you 100% certain that this wash n wax and microfiber application is not causing micro scratches?

I have used quite a few brands over the years because the manufacturers make changes to them over time. My advice is to try a couple different ones until you find the one you like. They act differently depending on what you us them for and what you use with them. Different detail sprays react differently to different brands of towels.

This place has a good selection and some good knowledge can be found by reading through the page.

Car Care Microfiber Towels, Microfiber dusters and microfiber Detailing tools

I do like these and have a few. I prefer the no edge towels with detail spray after every drive before the cover goes on.

Woobie Microfiber Towel, 6-Pack, edgeless buffing towel, microfiber buffing towel

Griots garage used to have some that were the best I ever used that were light blue and edgeless but they do not have them any more IIRC.

    Good luck.

My eyes bleed and my heart huts every time I see someone taking their pride'n joy out and after a drive they just put the cover back on.

Even if the car ain't "dirty" as a daily driver (with week(s) between washes), when you drive a car it immediately picks up road grime, dust, light dirt etc. Which all then gets rubbed between the car cover and the paint -> horrible holograms and other paint defections. Even if you wash your car and then let it sat outside .. even for a hour or so .. the surface of the paint has collected loose dust which then will scratch it when a car cover is being inserted.

Indeed, despite my tiny garage the cover goes on straight after it has been washed and in the garage.

I don't use cover at all. I like to see my car when in garage =D No reason to hide it!
