You won't see an F1 car braking from that speed because they don't reach that speed in races. To brake from 250 to 0 in 10 seconds is going from 111.75 m/s to 0 m/s in 10 seconds, so 11.176 m/s^2. Divide that by 9.81 m/s^2 to get it in Gs and it's 1.139 Gs under braking assuming it's constant. An F1 car does 5 Gs under braking to put that in perspective. They can go from 0 to 100mph and back to 0 in 4 seconds.

It is not even 1950kg. It is 2300kg wet, not including driver. The car is an S-Class, not an Elise.

The marque is French, but I believe engineering being all German. Is it?

Did anyone catch this part in the orginal link that was posted? If this is accurate I find it jaw dropping amazing! The bugatti can let the McLaren get to 120mph before setting off and still get to 200 first!!! If that's is true I find it freakish!

" the McLaren F1 could top 240mph, but at that speed it was pretty much out of control. And anyway it really isn’t in the same league as the Bugatti. In a drag race you could let the McLaren get to 120mph before setting off in the Veyron. And you’d still get to 200mph first. The Bugatti is way, way faster than anything else the roads have seen.

Of course, at £810,000, it is also jolly expensive, but when you look at the history of its development you’ll discover it’s rather more than just a car ."

That is a slight exaggeration IMHO, a Jaguar R3 did a 0-100-0 run a couple of years ago and these were the results:

    0-30mph: 1.50 sec.
    0-60mph: 2.71 sec.
    0-100mph: 4.02 sec.
    Reaction time: 0.20 sec.
    100-0mph: 1.68 sec, pulling 2.5g
    Overall: 5.90 sec.

Can anyone validate or debunk this claim from the article about the Veyron and its performance?

"In a drag race you could let the McLaren get to 120mph before setting off in the Veyron. And you’d still get to 200mph first"

Didn't Jeremy Clarkson say something about Ferrari being one step below God?

Anyways....The Bugatti is a great machine and I think its also great to look at as well, but im sure Ferrari has something up there sleeve.....they always do :)

I don't think Ferrari will make something to outrun the Veyron. Bugatti didn't make a single cent profit for each Veryron produced. It is a flagship car to show the marque comeback. Bugatti will need to make a second model, a sub $200k car in order to make profit. Ferrari is not in the position to burn $$. Can they make a Veyron beater? Sure, I bet they can. Will they? Nope (unless there is a big enough market for a $1.5 million car for >200 units)

It has been rumored that a version of the Veyron engine minus turbos will turn up in the VFB (Very Fast Bentley). Supposedly a future Arnage will have a 700 hp W-16 shoehorned in.
