I'm having a problem with the windshield wipers on my '72 246 GTS European Spec Dino. They are the "clap hand" variety and am having trouble adjusting them so they don't hit. I have 14" wiper blades and the original Arman wiper arms on the car, but when we try to adjust one way they hit on the way up. When we adjust the other way they hit on the way down. I would appreciate anyone's help who has dealt with this problem. It's my understanding that this is a common problem with these wipers, and the main reason why Ferrari went to side to side wipers.

In my experience, when in their `resting' state, there should be several inches separation between blades. This seems to avoid them touching as they leave their resting state to begin sweeping the windshield.

I actually bought the Dino late last year. I had a pre-purchase inspection done on the car, but he must not have checked the wipers, because they haven't worked right since I got the car. The motor has been pulled and everything is all right with that. I'm wondering if it might be that the cable that runs from the motor to the passenger side is stretched out or the gear on the driver side of the motor may be worn?

Ro they meet open v or closing?
Is one arm trailing the other?
    They should move in synch

it seems like they are in sync, but when you adjust it one way so they don't hit on the way up, then they hit on the way down, and visa versa
