Ok cigar guys, here's a question. Can cigars be revived? My wife found my humidor that I'd quite frankly pushed way back in my memory, and it's full of good cigars. Opus X, Partagas Serie D Cubans, Cohibas, etc, etc. I quit smoking them quite a few years ago. They're dry as a bone. Sad. Can anything be done?
All you can do is try. I say re-season your humidor. Take everything out, wipe down EVERY cedar surface inside with distilled water on a small sponge (wet not soaking). Put the sponge on a plastic bag and leave over night along with your newly filled humidifier. Fill next morning with all your cigars. Now wait a good 3-4 weeks, maintaining your humidifier to make sure it's humid. May take a while to get it close to 70% as it will be dry for the first few weeks. If you're in all out winter it will be even dryer in your house so you need to stay on top of keeping your hydrometer as close to 70% as you can. After a month or so, give it a go. Good luck!
Partagas Culebras spotted yesterday at the Habana Libre hotel in Havana... For those unfamiliar, here is some info on why culebras were originally rolled: http://www.stogiefresh.info/edu-cigars/articles/culebra-a-definitive-guide.html Image Unavailable, Please Login
Good read, thanks. Feeling low-brow here. No $100k bets and no Cubans. Nice nearly 70F day finished with a Perdomo Habano Sun Grown. Still pretty tasty. Image Unavailable, Please Login
As y'all may have guessed, I couldn't just let those poor culebras sit there on the shelf feeling unwanted! First dibs on sharing one with any FChatters who pass through New Orleans. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Interesting. I always heard is was because the workers were only allowed "one" cigar to take home but somehow rolling the three together met the "one" definition so it was sort of a way to get more to smoke without exceeding it. Sounds or looks like that's a myth. Just marketing! Gotta love it. They are unique!
Wish I was closer! Saw your post on visiting Cuba. Something we've thought about. How long do you think until till they are up to "better" standards? Decade? Waiting for some snow here. Thought I'd try one of these this evening. Image Unavailable, Please Login
No picture but I did spark of a Don Carlos #2 the other day in Rhode Island. Tomorrow I should be flying home and have a couple ready to spark!
After a crazy week of work and flight delays in relaxing here with a padron and some work to wrap uo the week. Image Unavailable, Please Login
The Parque Central, The Saratoga, and the Amelia Cohiba hotels are all up to standard for sure. But the expectation for the trip generally should be a lack of comforts outside of those hotels that is made up for by a cultural experience that is different than most. It can be sad, romantic, vibrant...all wrapped into one.
Sounds interesting. Few hours splitting wood, now enjoying Carmen from The Met and one of these. Nice. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Wish I had known you were going to Rhode Island. I work in Providence and could have shown you my favorite cigar bar in town.
It was a very hectic trip lately. i still owe you some monte cristo open eagle as well. Ive found a bar i really enjoy south of warwick. I should be able to have more free time next time around.
