Hey folks I have a 296 on order. The dealer is adamant that I should get the black exhaust because the chrome one stains and isn’t cleanable. Has anybody had experience with this, or have pictures that show how clean their’s gets when washed ? Thanks!
I got the black one because the chrome looks like a butthole in the middle of the abyss, but that’s just me. If there’s a chrome grill I’d reconsider.
When speccing our GTS at the dealer a few weeks ago we had the opportunity to see both exhausts. The chrome one already had stains and looked quite dirty (even before delivery to the customer), so that convinced us to take the black one. That being said, the black one just looks so much better as well and it doesn’t make the exhaust unnecessarily stand out regardless of the exterior color.
I spec’d my exhaust in black and think it looks much better. I notice you can now spec the exterior Ferrari cavallino/horse in black too. Tempted…
Sadly I have chrome on my GTB, my GTS is going to be black!. Even my detailer was having a problem working out how to clean the chrome one and ended up only removing half the staining
Looks like the paint will be in jeopardy as well. Lighter paints even with protection might look bad. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Can confirm I saw the same today at Petersen Enzo drive-in event. Black exhaust looked perfect. Regular one was stained black in the lower middle. The car was spotless for the show so it truly looked like it was stained. Lots of people were noticing and calling it out. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
Get black, mine was stained from the factory and looks terrible. They should make black standard or choose a better material/surface for the silver one.
Yes your dealer is right. My silver metal is getting dirtier by the meter. As a result, I have put in a post sales order to get the black exhaust.
One tip is don’t start car in stationary. Always fire up while on the move with emotor. This way it will not be affected much by moisture built up near the tip which in turn ruin the clean exhaust end and the body under the tip. Sent from my iPad using FerrariChat
Is it easy to remove? One could have it sprayed with black Cerakote easily if it comes off quickly...
I use alchole wipe to remove any stain on the paint. But once the stain is on paint for long, it stays. You want to make sure to clean after every drive. I have white car so mine shows left overs clearly. I should hvae done PPF those slim area right under the exhaust…I will soon. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
Hi There, where did you see that the option for a black CR is available please? Does anyone know if that will be an option in Australia? Ian
I've just had my car delivered this morning and it arrived with the exhaust covered in soot as others have shown. I literally spent les than two minutes using G Techniq All Metal Polish and it easily cleaned it right off. I forgot to take a before pic but here is the result. Image Unavailable, Please Login
It’s definitely an option in Australia. I spec’d it on my NZ car and ours arrive via your head office etc.
That's great thanks, I reckon the black Cavallino Rampante will look really good with the black exhaust tip.
I agree, and have been thinking of adding that too. But, the word “Ferrari” is still in chrome on the top of the spoiler? Would that be weird?
