I decided to start a racing thread in the Chicago section for any photos you might have taken over the years. They don't have to be from the Great Lakes region but should be only race cars or sportscars and only taken by the person posting(your personal stash). I know alot of you go all over the country to shows and race tracks and sometimes restoration shops. This should be interesting to see. This is not a daily spotter thread as we already have one of those.

Lets start with a few from I think 2000 and 2004, the Maserati and Ferrari meet at Laguna Seca that I went to. The last one is the 1992 Daytona 24 hours Jaguar XJR12 on the banking doing well over 210 mph.

A few more from the 1999/2000 and 2004 historical and FIA GT 1997/1998 races at Laguna Seca and Homestead. Can you guess what car that engine is from in the first picture? This was the first time out after restoration at Laguna Seca that year.

Road America IMSA. My favorite Group C car the Silk Cut Jaguar XJR14, also run in IMSA under Bud Light sponsorship. Amazing and fast, it won right out of the box and took the Group C championship from Mercedes and Peugeot in 1991. The XJR14 ran in IMSA in 1992, a different place called America where politics is number one. Toyota Eagle was using ELF fuel with chemicals not allowed by IMSA all season, yet they were not banned and most of their victories were allowed to stand. I liked Dan Gurney but that was one of his darkest moments as he ran the Toyota Eagle team that cheated.

    Photos:

Ferrari 550 GT class also at Road America IMSA and the March Porsche CART 1990 with Teo Fabi driving, the Group C 1991 Champion and a CART Lola Alfa Corse from 1991 at Road America.

Here are a few pictures from 1999 Daytona and Sebring of the Risi 333SP. The German teams were making the 333SP obsolete due to lack of Ferrari factory engine support by 1999. The Risi 333SP mechanic was on the phone for an hour trying to decide if they should change the number #11 cars motor. They finally did in around two hours!!

Me, at Road America about 15 years ago. Obviously I'm not the photographer, but I paid for the picture.
