My personal theory on this is that 348 wheels look best on early rubber-bumper Mondials (8 and qv), while 355 wheels look best on later style cars with the body-color bumpers (3.2 and t), and either look WAY better than the factory wheels. Ferrari usually does very nice wheels, but in my opinion they did a poor job with the Mondial. It is the thick outer "ring" where the tips of the spokes attach that makes it so bad. Having a smaller "star" with a thicker rim section compared to other 5-spoke designs makes the wheels look smaller than they really are and the sidewall/tire look bigger. Not the usual look of a high-performance machine in my opinion. Even the 328 wheels from the same era are MUCH nicer. Anyone ever put those on a Mondial?
From the 'other wheels on Mondial ' collection: Although 16" qv wheels, these are similar; you'll notice they are more outboard due to smaller non-abs offsets Image Unavailable, Please Login
Changed these for 348 wheels as just way to big at the back at 295r18/35 Image Unavailable, Please Login
Jimbo- Just wondering if you could show some pictures of the rear of your car? Specifically, how did you paint the exhaust grille? I have seen Mondials with the lower body painted body-color with the rear grilles left black, or painted, or with just the bottom slat painted. Just wondering how you did yours...beautiful car by the way!
I have 360 wheels on my 89t and to me they look great. The only problem is that the offset is not right on the back wheels. You will end up having to raise up the back of the car to keep from rubbing. I have also seen where the rear wheels were turned to create a greater offset, not sure how that affects the wheels, but then they seem to fit just fine. To me the 360 wheels give the mondials a little bit more of an up-dated look.
My vote is for the 348 wheels on all the Mondials. That's weird..the 1st thing i'd wanna do with a Modial is put 348 wheels on it and the 1st thing i'd wanna do to a 348 is put 360 modular wheels on it.
