which cars have REAL word accents? I drove a caddy DHS the other day and the steering wheel looked real, but the dash etc. did not and i was pretty disappointed. Is the steering wheel real wood?

so, what cars have real word? Do audi A8s have real wood?

I was told my e39 540 has real wood but they use soo much "finish" on the wood, it looks like plastic. Other than that, I can only assume it's original price tag would ensure real wood. Anyone know for sure?

Yeah I think the 5 series has real wood. I can tell by how it has cracked in my dads 528. :D

I think most european luxury cars use real wood, while the rest of the world does not.

Agreed. My 1997 Audi A4 2.8 Quattro had a real wood interior. Basically, if it looks like wood, it is. I don't think the European manufacturers used faux wood - at least, not on US cars. Cadillac, on the other hand, did use faux wood. Not sure when/if that has changed recently.

Actually, I believe that most of the luxury cars out there use real wood these days, Caddy included.

My 325Ci had it as well. Agree with the comment above about the gloss finish -- it was coated/smoothed so extensively that it could just as easily have been plastic.

My 2007 Cadillac STS uses real eucalyptus wood trim for the dash trim and steering wheel. It's not Burl Walnut, but it's not plastic either.

Even in 2004 I think that Caddilac used real wood if you got the wood trim package that included the wood steering wheel. As mentioned in this thread it looks and feels plasticy because of the layers of varnish and poly on top of the wood. Best way to tell is to cut into it with a hack saw on the test drive :)

The steering wheel looked real, the dash looked like plastic. I couldnt see any grain in the dash while it was noticable on the wheel.

    i read this some where,

"general motors spent a fortune trying to make their plastics look like wood, while rolls royce spent a fortune trying to make their wood look like plastic"
