Best estimate I heard after was 853. Lots of kids got in my Sprite. Oh, met Joe L. Today! Great guy. Good taste in motorcycles! Image Unavailable, Please Login
I dunno nothing about those things. I told him to be in the lookout for a bug eye or a Dino If my little guy was recovering from herpangina I would have there myself. One day I'll get down there and shake your hand
Great meeting you today Dean. It was a massive showing of cars. We Got there about 7:30 am, and then the cars started rolling about 8:10am. I am use to getting to the C&O in Alpharetta, Ga at about 5am or you don't get a spot. So 8 am seems so late, but I like this show much better. You see the first photo, not many people around, then the crowd, and we left there were about 20 cars left. Great day to be out. John Montgomery parked that hot rod Abarth next to me, so that was fun chatting. Well I'll be riding solo but hope meet and greet!! Okay I'm retarded this is in Grenville SC I thought it was Grenville NC whoops
Got up early this morning to make the drive to Greenville. It was warm already when I arrived around 7:30. Cleaned the bugs off and walked around to see what was there. My nephew works in Greenville and he and I hooked up to look at cars and to do some family business. The beautiful Dino sure got my attention. I met the owner of a 308 but did not get a photo of his car. And that was all the Ferrari's I saw. I did like the Sunbeam Tiger even though it was modified. Sweet car. The Datsun 260Z with a LS motor made for a fast ride and looked good as well. This gentleman's 1963 Corvette Split window is one of only 200 with factory air. The red bug convertible with the wide whites looked very period. And speaking of period, it doesn't get much more period than this 1934 Indian. There were a number of other interesting cars as well that I did not photograph. Well worth the trip. And, fortunately, as it was very warm on the drive back, the 348's AC did its job well. Hot was not the word for Saturday in August of 2014. It felt like Macon Ga. had been moved to S.C. THe show was massive again, everyone was super nice. This is always a plus. And, I always learn something from other car people. That for me is worth the 2hr 30min. trip. Dean's Dino was looking sharp. I left the Ferrari 550 at home as I had an ABARTH I was dying to take out. It had tons of stickers. I have never in 50 years put any sticker of any type on a car. Well.... the abarth is different, it needs to look like a racer. So Julie and brought the Fiat- Abarth tag team. Her car is the great "1957" Limited edition, it gets more attention around town than the Ferrari. Those blue wheels are amazing. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Finally John Montgomery showed up in his hot rod Abarth, and finally I felt better when I saw this rally done Abarth with lights by a friend of John Montogmery, finally someone who understood me...... Ended up spending the rest of the Day over with John Finger talking about racing. I have know John for about 50 years. He was coming into racing when My dad was going out. My dad raced ABARTHS in 1957 and retired in 1967 by then he was in a special made car called the Beach, like a small lola. He held the record at Chimney Rock for years, until they retired his class, the John took over. So I have a lot of good memories of friends in Greenville The last photo was take in 1966 of the winning Beach car, there were 17 races that season , and J.W. Denton won all 15, designed by Gene Beach.
