This same car was sold by Bracco to Mexican architect Enrique Ortiz Peredo, which painted it in ivory color and drove it in the 1952 Panamericana, see min. 04:17 in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ZU6QXgRhEw By the way, any info about the crest on the Mexican flag would be very welcome! Hi Tom, i'm a bit on the fence between these 2....thing is the cmr cost only half, since you're the expert on the panamericana what's your opinion on both the tecnomodel and the cmr version? The above post was the CMR, this one is the Tecnomodel....so what do you think, is this one better than the CMR? i think the yellow tire markings are period correct or not? I think the CMR sits to high but looks better with a nice body. The tire markings look correct. I really don't like the wheels on any of the newer Tecnomodel's, although I like the front of the Tecnomodel Mexico better. Tecnomodel used to be so good when all they made were 1/43rd and a few 1/24th. What happened. They are not the same company anymore. I have a feeling the CMR does not look as good closeup. But CMR nailed the body other than maybe the windshield.
Would you like to share it Patrick? I'm always interested in knowing what other colectors think and why they choose certain models..an i know you also have an eye for detail.
Tom, thank you for your opinion. I agree with you, the CMR looks to sit a litle higher (wich i think happens with many of their models) but since this was a rally var, perhaps it's not so bad, and this was a pre-production picture. AS for the shape, they both look good to me, but perhaps the "tip" of the front fenders is better on the Tecnomodel, a bit "sharper" while the CMr is a bit too round, hence i agree with youthat the Tecno's front is probably better. What do you see wrong with the Tecno tires? I also believe that side by side, the tecnomodel will probably look a bit more detailed, for example, the side windows look to be better because they really overlap , while in the CMR i think it's just a mrk to give that impression. but of course, the tecno will cost around 200€ and the CMR 100€, so i guess in your opinion the CMR would be the smartest choice?
Pedro, I didn't really study the question but my feeling goes in the direction of a purchase of a Tecnomodel. I have a model from MG Models (Panamericana 1953) currently under construction. I need to compare....

Thanks Patrick, i have also reserched a bit more, the version i want is the one you have from Mg, and i have noticed some things that i like more in teh Tecno. For example, the rear licence plate, and the 1.2.3 decals, are better positioned in the Tecno in the trunk, they sit to high in the CMR. Also as Tom said, the rid height is much nicer on teh Tecnomodel. Another problem with the CMr are the horrible windshield whipers they use, and the shape of the rear side window is also more correct on the Tecnomodel. the thing that CMR got better are the fishtails that are a bit longer..they are a bit short on the Tecnomodel. Finaly, i agree with Tom that side by side, the tecnomodel will oprobably look a better and more expensive model. is it worth twice the price of the CMR? No, not even close, but i always try tom buy the best possible option.
Hi, surely you will have noticed the thin aereodinamic foil at the start of the doors. A beautiful example of the Ferrari research and lost for many years. So common to day on the F1 in every place. They was useful at high speed to keep the fluid (air) close to the long body of the car to reach the brake vents.
