Anyone familiar with the numbering on headlamps?

For instance - I'm looking for a set of 330 GT Carello Headlamps - single headlight car - i think they are the same for 330 GTC and GTS car.

I have seen number - such as......

07-485-700 - what does that mean? As compared to 07-585-700 ?? Is this a mesurement of some type Image Unavailable, Please Login ?

Also what designates if the headlamp has a single bulb for high low or 2 bulbs for the high/low?

Trying to understand a little of the numbers -

These numbers are just the reference numbers of these Carello headlights.
May be ( 99% sure) that 07 is the diameter in inches.
Consider that Ferrari normally used several parts already available on the market, the same produced for other italian car manufacturers.
If I'm not wrong the headlights are the same used for some Alfa Romeo sport cars (i.e.the Spider 1600 aka Duetto)
Try to extend your search on other car manufacturers, and ebay is a mine, may be you'll find cheaper spares...

Ok thanks - what i dont understand when i look at a 07-485-700 and a 07-585-700 they look identical, lens, script, style and size.

So what is the difference? Does it have something to do with the light diffusion - because unless u read the number - there seems to be no difference.

07-485-700 are reasonably prices vs 07-585-700 NOS are more that $2000 a pair.

Yes alot of alfa cars use the same......

I believe the 07-585-700 are the correct lights. Very rare and very expensive. I believe the 700 is for 7.0 inches.

Halogen bulbs work great just have a different look to them. Never put the 100 watt bulbs in. You'll melt the wiring, fuse boxes or turn signal stalk or maybe all three.

great to know...........i was think yea more light......NO!

on a related note to the numbers, the 07 on the bulb seems to indicate a one bulb rear housing vs the 03 means a 2 bulb housing

also - in doing some comparison on the 485 and 585 - upon close detailed inspection there are differences in the glass definition. The logo and scripts are the same - but the design of the lines and division of the lines in the glass are different -

Yes the 700 is the diameter from what i have been able to determine.

I assume this has some effect to the light diffusion thru the glass thus potential range and spread of the light when lite.

    more to come.......

Ed, I used to go to the van der Sman brothers regarding anything headlamp. They are very knowledgeable and are willing to answer questions; and are also a great parts resource.
