Note how Carbon Fiber is changing. This is the latest state of the Art Carbon Fiber which is much lighter and stronger than older Carbon Fiber. It looks a lot different than the Carbon Fiber used in the F 40/ F 50/ and The Enzo.

As an aside it won't be painted but wrapped as wrapping is lighter than paint and much easier to repair.

My understanding is that this is the latest/lightest/strongest. This is for P 4/5 Competizione.

P 4/5's was more Pagani like.

You left out a pic of two fat guys (or models) holding the tub up to show how light it is.

Awesome Jim. Have you seen Pagani's Carbon titanium fibers ?

Gordon at Hudson Historics told me of a race team that saved over $100 k a year by wrapping instead of painting

    Thanks!

You and I remember the days when Privateers went racing and in the case of Mr. Lamborghini even started competing companies. The Ford Ferrari wars and N.A.R.T were very special and in my way I'm trying to bring a little of that back.

    They are very cool.

We're wrapping for that reason and also because it's lighter than paint.

As we'll be making modifications up until the 24 from what we learn in our first two races we'll run in naked black carbon fiber in those races.

Still how much thought went into the door latches? There is always some car held up in the pits because the crew guy has trouble closing the door properly after a pit stop with a driver change. Or worse when the door becomes unlatched at high speed...

Perhaps this has been asked before but is there is there any proprietary restriction on the use of N.A.R.T? Is that something you would be interested in reviving?

Whether or not N.A.R.T. was properly kept a registered trademark over the years is an issue for other's but morally it's IMO Coco's so we've deceided to race under the Shield of my wife, children and I (Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus) and our shield features the Torch of The Statue of Liberty and Red/White/and Blue at the top.

P 4/5 Competizione will run with a Ferrari Nose Badge and SCG Shields.

I never actually thought of that...how many kg difference do you suppose it will be? I know F1 cars are wrapped (at least the BAR was a few years ago). It seems to make more sense as you can re-wrap certain sections that get damage like the front bumper. Less of a hassle than repaint that would need a booth among others.

You think street cars may go that way? Is the material resistant to tearing that a sharp rock may have? Paint doesn't stand up to that stuff at all.

    Thanks for the pics.

The weight savings is meaningfull especially in a race car. Repair is also a lot easier. You remove the wrap, fix the panel, and re-wrap. No paint matching. Wrap is much more durable than paint.

Paint would probably add 25 pounds to the weight of the vehicle. The wrap is something that can be done quickly compared to paint work. The wrap is 'cleaner' work than painting would be to...

that is gorgeous 4x4 twill weave! she is coming together so nicely. can't wait to see it on the track!!! btw, the 4x4 tw design is a great solution, especially when it's a pre-preg with an optimal resin choice. modul strength/stiffness vs wgt is excellent, no surprise you guys went with it(aside from looking snazzy, of course:). Pagani's latest cars...ie, Cinque coupe and roadster, and track only Zonda R, they use what is probably overkill, but exquisite. Commonly called Carbo-titanium--it's actually been around for a while now--and no, Mr Pagani did not 'invent' it, where a super thin layer of Ti is bonded to the woven carbon. properties of both materials combine for a result well beyond either of them alone. Then you have carbon-nano tube offshoots. That material is overkill overkill:) Man, i'm so excited, i can't wait to see this P4/5C in action!!!
