Hi all, I need to get a carburetor synchronizer tool. There are two kinds I see. The single meter and one with the four dials. Is there a real advantage to getting the more complex tool? Any recommendations? I will also add this is my first time adjusting them myself. I plan on using the bird man tutorial. I have a misfire in my midrange under any significant acceleration. Thank you in advance!
Get the single but get at least 3 of them. That way you have front back and left right covered. Makes it so easy. A fourth is cool too but you will find you rarely move carbs with three. It helps to have a color tune or gas analyzer for the idle screw. Doing it by ear/rpm is not an exact science. Get a good long flat screw driver and a 10mm (iirc) for the front linkage nut. You need to be able to do that one by feel as it's hard to see especially if you do it with the deck lid on. Deck lid off makes everything much easier.
OK, use 1. Spend 45 mins under a hot engine lid moving them back and forth trying to get them just right. Or spend a couple of extra bucks, put on three and tune in 5 mins. Your choice
Three is a waste of time and will not achieve better faster results than one. A false sense of a good job maybe but nothing else. If you had said eight you would have a point but not three.
I think the reading coming from the same tool on all carbs make it more accurate. It's like using different voltmeter for a voltage drop diagnostic. But this is just my way of thinking.
I don't know if I sounded satirical enough on my last posting but since the consensus is one is enough I will go with that. It looks like the model to get is the STE-SK.
