Have the opportunity to replace a fuel pump in a carb'd car. Any recommendations or experience with the original versus a Facet or Holley Red in a carb'd car?
    Many thanks

Holley pump works well but is very loud.

Facet red is the OEM replacement now, sold by Ferrari of UK. I ran it on my 308 and it was fine, not too loud. I had a Bendix on it that failed.

I would suggest Facet for replacement. I would actually pay money, though, to restore an original Corona pump if it could be restored. They were nice and quiet...

I run the holley red...don't think it is much louder than stock..then again with the euro ansa system it is hard to hear anything other than the exhaust. I initially put it on when my corona failed using holleys 4 psi regulator...with the regulator it was starving for fuel...have since removed it and it is fine. I suggest using caution when installing...the holley pump is bigger than stock and you must make sure that the pump isn't hanging below the frame which is dangerous...you will have to adjust the mounting bracket to make sure you are not below the frame, like I mentioned. It fits in with no drilling or any other major mods other than removing the factor rubber bushings..though the fit is a bit tight.

I find that upon start-up after the car has sat for a week or two, with a Facet pump, it takes forever to fill the float bowls (not like the original Corona BCD, which filled the bowls in a matter of seconds). Its also much noisier than the original.

When I can find an original for a reasonable price, I'll switch it for that.

If you are in the States, you may wish to contact Weldon pumps ,640 Golden Oak Parkway. Tel (440) 323-2282.
They have a large selection of pumps, but I think model no A2011-A maybe close.
    Regards.

    Thanks awfully everyone.
I installed a Holley red last weekend and it is MUCH quieter than the previous facet puttering, which could often be heard above even the engine at cruise and idle (a bit annoying, that). The Facet goes through the same regulator as the facet did, and am showing a dead pressure (no return) of 3# at the carbs. I also have an orificed return line to prevent vapor lock, so I think I'll be ok. It just make a very low smooth 'whir' sound.
    So far so good.
    Again, many thanks

Am having a similar experience with high demand starving problems with the Holley regulator. May just remove and see what line pressures I get at the carb with the return line.
