I've got this car symbol with the 2 arrows pointing beneath it light appearing on the centre console.

The cars starts without the symbol, and then after 10 mins of driving it comes on..take the key out, and restart it, its fine again for 10 mins or so.

I think it's effecting ride quality..
Few months back, I did hit a speed bump a bit hard(followed by a clunk noise), but symbol has only just started to appear.

Any ideas whats causing this, and whats the solution..

    Thanks in advance.

sounds like suspension malfunction light . what model car do you have/ have you checked owners manual to establish what warning light is showing up?

Giggs, this a great reason to fill out your profile, we don't know what car you have!

If you have a F430, what you describe is the dummy light indicating a "malfunction in the suspension system". You need to bring the car into the dealer.

Yes I got that on the other day on my 430 just as I pulling up to a curb as well but it has not reappeared.
Italian cars seem to be a bit tempermental at the best of times.

Further driving over the last couple of days has not made it come on again.
Ferrari service tell me that the readout resets in 30 minutes and nothing to be concerned about....is this the case?

it has happended to me before, it will not go away by itself. you can find out which sensor has gone bad with a diagnostic computer. mine was the front vertical sensor. not only the warning is gone, the suspension was firmer(in a good way)after replacing it.

Do Ferrari's have code readers or any series of button pushes that will reveal a code that can be looked up?

From what I'm told it's this magical very expensive Ferrari SD3 (?) diagnostic link computer that no one else has access to unless you are an authorized Ferrari dealer.
The car hiccups or farts and it can tell you when and for how long.

I got the same symbol ten days ago. The next day I drove the car for 45 minutes and never came back on. I haven't seen the symbol since then. The dealer told me that the computer sometimes resets faulty messages. like someone else said, these cars are temperamental. I wouldn't worry about it. Keep us updated though.

do you have an aftermarket stereo ???
My business parter and I purchaed a couple of 360's back to back and we did the following mods:

    - lowered
    - wheels
    - stereo (hmmm) the exact warning light went on the first car. Then the second car goes in for the stereo and the warning light came on.

It was (BELIEVE it ot NOT) the SAT radio modulator was to close to a ??? under the dash and they moved the SAT . . . 3 inches. In Both cars and the light went out and neither of us has ever seen that light again since May 2006 :)

I bring this up because you said you hit a speed bump and it could have shifted the SAT modulator

Any conclusive reason for this code? The car i am looking to buy has this code, just curious of all possible reasons why this code will be trigerred. The ppi wont be done until next week.

It's generally caused by a faulty suspension accelerometer sensor. If you've engaged a good guy for the PPI I imagine he will use an SD machine to interrogate the electronics and might well be able to identify which component is faulty. I don't believe they are particularly expensive. There are three sensors on the car.

Different one. I not buying the car from a ferrari dealer. Another question , since i am buying a 2005 f430 if the ppi uncovers any manifold leak , its not covered on any emission warranty right? I have to pay out of pocket?

Don’t make the mistake of thinking the suspension malfunction indicator is nothing.
My dealer has been chasing this problem for a year now and has talked with Ferrari technical support many times about it.
It comes on at irregular intervals and always resets itself whenever you shut the car off and restart it.
I had to drive the car until it came on and then go to the dealer and let him read codes with their SD3 while the car was running.
The computer told them both rear shocks had failed which they did not believe so they installed a new suspension cpu which made the light come on less frequently but did not solve the problem.
I returned the car to them and after having it for almost a month it finally on its way back to me.
They along with Ferrari technical service have decided that it was a faulty front shock and have replaced that. Time will tell if that was the problem.
    Thankfully it’s still under warranty.

As already posted above the extended warranty should cover manifold issues if there are any.

That said, the very reason you're having a PPI done is to establish if the car is in the condition the seller says it is so any issues that come to light as a result should be used by you as leverage to either have the seller rectify at his expense or else as a means to discount your purchase price.
