There's a chance I might lose my garage spot in my building and I'm looking for a storage facility for the 308... A friend of mine has one up in MD, but that's too far. Do we have anything around the NoVA area?

I know a place in Alexandria where several people keep their cars. It's around $100/mo. I'll PM you the info.

I have also started the search for covered storage for my F430. Anything within 30 minutes of DC area would be great. Not going to let THIS happen again this winter!!

Call Hal at 540 364 3647. He has a new building that is only used to store cars. All cars are covered and hooked to battery tenders. He keeps the heat up enough in the winter to keep above freezing. Very nice, clean and secure. Multiple car discounts etc. It's on very private property where he lives and no one has the key but him. He's left for a race already today but call him anytime after Sunday. You can also email him [email protected] but he probably won't get back to you till Sunday.

I used Extra Space storage in Alexandria for my cars year round for 3 years. Never once did I have any problems. The only drawback was that it was not climate controlled or have power for a battery tender. The cost was around 150/month.

I just finished building a 4-car garage, myself and teenage bro-in-law most every weekend since early spring.

    Hey Steve,

I know you and I talked about this a while ago...but the price I was quoted from the Extra Storage space near me was $350/month!

I've asked Randy Moss (Collector's Car Corral) about opening a facility down here in VA, but he said Real Estate is just TOO expensive. :(

I will continue to watch this thread...

I heard Philip Jones, the old manager at Tysons Aston and then Lambo of Washington is now opening some sort of car storage and concierge service near Sterling somewhere. Someone else here may know more about this.

If you change your mind about Maryland, let me know. I know a secured and private collector car facility designed specifically and only for this purpose. It is in the Gaithersburg area.

If you all don't mind me asking, what is the "going rate" for secure, clean storage?

Also, what are typical access hours, and as I read here, not all come with electric, etc.

    TIA

30 miles one way isn't that appealing otherwise I would go with my friend's place out near Gaithersburg. However, if all of the facilities I'm looking at just happen to be in that 25 to 30 mile range from my place in Arlington then I may consider it.

    Lash,

I'll never change my pants nor my mind about Maryland.

    Depends totally on who/what/when/where.

A storage facility that is climate controlled, near downtown DC, clean, in a safe area, monitored 24/7, near a metro could be $350-400 per mo.

Out in the sticks (outside the beltway) with no power could be $150.

    Arjun,

You're back!!! How was your vacation? Are you going to Great Fall's tomorrow?? I'm still on the fence about going. I have to work late tonight. So there's a 50/50 chance I'll be there. It would be great to catch up!

Phillip Jones/Funktion Auto/Hawthorn and Clark are over off of Old Ox Road just as you pass over the toll road again. I think he is doing car storage. Climate controlled and they can do maintenance on most cars also. Might be something good for you to check out. A bit of a ways from Arlington, but not too far.

For storage without power how about this: Big deep-cycle marine battery connected to a 12v to 110 inverter, plug in a Battery Tender connected to the car. Recharge the marine battery every few weeks. Will this work?

Don't know if this helps however, here is a 2 car garage in Vienna, near metro... (not my house)

    From Craigslist:

I have a large detached 2 car garage for rent in a residential area of Vienna near metro. Ideal for classic car restoration, woodworking, or storage.

This one is real nice and your talking about $150 a month. Lashss has been out there and can also provide a reference on the place. Cars have lots of room between them
