I see you are skeptical - "LOL - I rarely shoot the entire cars; everyone already knows what the look like. I'm interested in how details both define the final car and at the same time, express design and engineering solutions that in and of themselves can be beautiful and/or interesting. For me, this has been an ongoing design process that I developed to analyze my own work; and yes I know it all sounds a bit pretentious..." I probably should said 'this has been part of an ongoing design process'... Seriously though, I really appreciate some of the more theoretical discussions you have posted on the Design Thread of late. Although there are some other issues that are eating through a lot of personal time, it has prompted me to re-examine how I reached my current place. I'm not a photographer; I am a designer of small buildings and interiors. My influences are myriad as I'm sure are yours, and photography has been a major source of inspiration and a tool for selective analysis of editing, POV, and orientation in design, etc.; part of the heuristics of "how we are where we are" if you will. There are so many points of departure to continue this discussion; client (market) requirements, client psychology, legal parameters, personal design ethos, 'cradle to grave' considerations, that I think might be best dealt with elsewhere (design thread?). This is all a little bit too deep for a photo thread!
I always have to remind myself that I spent most of my professional career in a culture that believed in the statement: “ never trust a designer that talks too much”. Draw your own conclusions.
Marchal; proper attire for a black Bugatti - I was wearing a particularly colourful shirt that day... Image Unavailable, Please Login
Bloodhound LSR carbon fiber - close friend was part of the project so I got a special tour about four years ago. Alas, they overspent on the initial build/design and ran out of funds to make a record attempt. Lots of spectacular fabrication on view tho - Who knows, maybe Red Bull will buy up the project and have a go - Image Unavailable, Please Login
I will move on from Bloodhound tomorrow, but today's post is its Eurojet EJ200 primary engine featured in the Eurofighter with a maximum thrust of 60 kN (13,500 lbf) and 90 kN (20,200 lbf) (with afterburner). With its satin finish, it personifies the concept of "an iron fist in a velvet glove" nicely. . Image Unavailable, Please Login
