My iMac runs Catalina and I've noticed a problem. I have numerous video files on external hard drives. Some of them have aliases with the same name that are not linked to the video itself, and I cannot delete the alias. I cannot drag the files into the trash. I cannot fix the alias by assigning it to any video, even the one of the same name. I cannot rename it. If I open "get info" I can't change the permissions. Anybody have any thoughts? I've searched this out via Google with no resolution. Thanks.

Have you tried to delete the offending files via the Linux interface (Terminal) using the "rm" command?

I tried, although I'm not sure I'm doing it correctly

At the command line (denoted by a $ on my Mac, when using Terminal' I use the rm (remove) command.

I like to put it single quotes to be sure, for example, ...
    rm 'Wozniak and Cramer.pdf'

Often I find it useful to start typing in the name of the file and hit the Tab to auto complete.
In case there are hidden characters in the name. For example...
    rm Wozniak\ and\ Cramer.pdf

I gave it a shot, it just tells me no such file or directory. Thanks for the input.
