I haven't yet collected my California but I did get a nice little teaser sent through the post a couple of days ago. You may have all had one of these already but I thought that I would post a pic anyway. It is a 4gb usb key with some preloaded content about the California. It has nice little Flash movies and an intro to the car with extracts from the manual.

If anyone is interested, I could load the content up on one of my servers so you could have a look. PM me if you are interested.

    Thanks for your reply QWKDTSN.

Yeah, really can't wait to get hold of it. Seems like ages since I ordered it.

I wonder if this is something only Ferrari USA does... I haven't heard about it in the UK.

Let's wait and see I guess

I got one a few weeks before I collected my California. The dealer (Dick Lovett) also gave me a rather nice A4-size red leather notebook folder.

Thanks for your response Trevor. I got one of the beautiful red leather folders too with all of the welcome to Ferrari info. I received that through the post about two months ago.

Did you get the little replica model of your car too? Still waiting for that.

Very jealous you have picked your car up already. Silly question but I presume your enjoying it?

Do UK buyers still get the paperwork offering one year's free membership to the Owners Club ?

Hi greyboxer, there was some info about the owners club in the folder but don't recall anything about a free first year. I will check again later though. Would be great if that was the case.

Hi Andy. I got the model car when I collected the California. Like most people on this forum, I'm using mine as a daily driver. I part-exchanged a 612 with the HGTC pack, which I also used every day. The Cali is the first Ferrari I have chosen with my wife, mainly because she will be driving it as much as me. She chose the exterior/interior colour and trim: Grigio Silverstone/Sabbia, while I chose things like yellow brake callipers, yellow tach, Magneride, 20" wheels, cruise control, front/rear parking sensors and a few other things. I haven't posted any photos yet because I was having the car professionally detailed, a 4-day job by Zaff Hussain of Project Karma in Bristol, but Zaff found quite a lot of problems with the paint finish. Enough for Dick Lovett to recover the car at their expense and put in a Ferrari warranty claim. I was tempted to post photos of the damaage but, to be fair, most of the faults are not obvious. At the risk of being accused of being picky, this is what Zaff told me in a recent email:

"I will say they can be little difficult to see in the wrong light so try to avoid strong sunlight and use an ordinary torch at various angles. After careful thought it looks like a excess flow of paint from a paint gun has probably caused most of the issues with a dust contamination element probably caused by static electricity accounting for the other problems. The defect pattern does not indicate a front end impact as there are defects in the doors and rear drivers side quarter as well. The front bumper is a little mystery as well when looking at the misalignment of the front grill and may be down to poor fitting at the factory. "

Because the paint repairs will require a respray of the wings and bonnet, I have decided to delay the work until October, when my wife and I will be having a driving holiday in California -- sadly not in a California.

Since collecting the car a few weeks ago, I've done almost 1,000 miles. I kept the revs below 3,000 for the first 600 miles, but now happily red-line it when conditions allow. I really can't add any comments to what has already been said by other owners, other than re-state how great the car is to drive. I probably get more attention than most because I use it for business trips. We run a software company that sells an inspection system to UK local authorities (municipalities in the US) for managing children's playgrounds, buildings, street furniture, trees, etc. Since most of our users are based in council depots, you will often see my California parked next to a dustcart or huge lawnmower. As you can imagine, I get a lot of remarks but mainly of the type, "Look what he's driving now!" in reference to the fact that I've been turning up in rather nice cars (including a Porsche 959 a few years ago) for over 20 years.

Hi Trevor, thanks for you reply that's really useful info. I too chose the car with my wife and we plan to use it everyday. Yours sounds like a similar spec to ours but we have gone for black with black and yellow stitching along with a few carbon fiber bits.

Interesting to hear another paint quality story as I have read about loads of others. I am quite into detailing myself so I will be checking the car thoroughly on collection from the factory. If it isn't absolutely spot on I will request a pro detail to fix all of the issues at the cost of the dealer/Ferrari. It sounds like you have had a bit more of a problem than just the paint though, sorry to hear that.

Also very interested to hear that you have run the car in so to speak. I asked the dealer about this initially and they told me there was no need to. I have always done the same with previous cars but have never owned a Ferrari before. I'll definitely bear this in mind and look into it properly.

Thanks again for the useful info,

    Andy

I never received this USB stick, but I did receive my small replica car. Don't know why this is.

Yes, could you please post the content onto your server? I would love to see what there is!

Ooops I should read better before I post I guess...

    Gorgeous colour combination Trevor!

I can't believe I still have to wait for another 9 months to get mine...but I guess it's my fault as I specified that date to drive it back from the factory :)

I have uploaded the files from the key to one of my servers but it doesn't run too well as the files are supposed to run locally. If you want the link PM me.

However, most of the content (minus the videos) seems to be available at the following link:

    http://www.ferrari.com/English/Pages/California_qrg.aspx

    Hope that helps,
