I want to add a Ferrari to my collection. I have been looking at the ff and California t. Would like your opinion on both cars. The last Ferrari I had was a 355 spider. Would like to know the pros and cons of these two Ferraris. Either would get limited use as I have six cars and I’m retired.

I've found the California T to be more to my liking because I enjoy the open-air experience driving the car ... Florida is a great place for a convertible as there is no winter weather to contend with.

The advantages of the FF would be the all wheel drive -- not really that important in Florida other than the massive daily thunderstorms in the summer, which you probably would not take the car out in, and that it can fit four people somewhat comfortably. The V12 is a wonderful motor. There are some concerns with the all wheel drive system for repair potential. The California T seems to have sorted the issue with the earlier cars and the dual clutch transmission, depending on what year FF you get, you might want to look into that. For a fun car to drive occasionally, I'd go for the open-air because with the hard top you have the best of both worlds.

Both cars are very fast, the FF is more elegant but the looks are somewhat polarizing, but I like it. I'm about to put my California T away for the winter -- it's for sale, actually, a 2015, Daytona black over cuoio, 14k miles and factory warranty good through July 2021. But if I had opted for an FF, I'd be driving it all winter.

In either instance, it's a good idea to buy one with a Ferrari warranty, at least for the first year, to sort out any issues.

No contest. The FF and the V12. While I'm a huge drop-top guy, the FF is still one of the most exciting Ferraris I have experienced. The Cali T is nice, but in a different league. Drive both, that's how you'll know.

FF. Absolutely. It's an amazing and unique car. When the car was introduced it, i hated. I couldnt believe Ferrari had introduced something so "ugly". Then i saw a few in real life and started to warm up to the styling. It's not a gorgeous car but it does look pretty cool/amazing in some specs. But mostly it was after driving it on a mountain road, chasing other Ferraris that i fell in love with it. The car just wraps around you as you go fast, it handles almost like a mid engined V8 F car.

    Go for it!

I just put 4k miles on my FF in the last 6 weeks. I am using it as a daily driver. My friends and I still laugh every time we start up the V12 and it roars to life. Then we laugh again how it just stuffs you in the seat. I have a gated 430 spider for back roads and California sunshine Image Unavailable, Please Login

I had Cali T HS before and now FF and 458. I think it depends on your need. No children and want a convertible, get Cali. Wife complaints that you are selfish with another car all to yourself without the kids, get the FF then.

FF looks very masculine in person and Cali does look more like the opposite. I personally love the contour of Cali T which mirrors that of a 599.

My neighbors FF is in one of my garages right now (he needs room for holiday guests), and I own a Calf T for over a year. I thought it was a nice car, but I was to accustomed to the way the NA mid engine V8's sound and drive so I bought a 458 spider. I am not crazy about the looks of the FF and I do think the T looks better. Being AWD the FF is more complex, and I would not suggest owning one without a warranty.

Gene, would be interested to know how exactly you came to a choice between these 2. Besides being Ferraris, they have not much in common except back seats. The Cali’s back seats are small with almost zero legroom - I squeezed my kids in there when they were 9 and 6 and there was much complaining. The FF can seat four adults, the same kids travelled across the UK in a GTC4 Lusso (much the same) as long 16 and 13 year olds with no complaints.

If you don’t have to have back seats, then as people have pointed out, you can get a 458 for similar money, which is an amazing car and (sorry) a different league to drive than either. Or a 599. Which has that V12 goodness in a more nimble package.

Personally of your choices I would take a Cali T with the HS pack. Or actually a Cali 30 with HS. That’s because I like top down motoring and while I’d miss the V12 and specialness of the FF, I wouldn’t miss the size or weight or irritability in traffic, and I don’t need 4WD. If you do need 4WD or proper back seats, the the FF is the only contender in Ferrari world for your price.

    Good luck with your choice.
