    What's up FC,
I'm in the market to purchase either or, what do you guys think? 488 is a decent vehicle but I'd love to check out the 2nd ever turbo (Cali t). I've always loved the 458 design but in a California and now Ferrari has yet done it again by creating the California T.

What are your thoughts if you were to pick either or?

It's like the first words Eve said to Adam: Gee, that's a hard one...

For either or I would go with the Cali T, especially as a DD. You can lower the top, you can put a lot in the trunk, you can put tiny humans in the back seat occasionally. However, the 488 will be amazing. Tough call.

If you are a genuine purchaser then you have no choice since the 488 will not be delivered to new buyers for at least a year and probably two

None of us can make that call for you. In all seriousness, have you owned a similar sportscar? I mean, they are night and day, and provide you with completely different driving experiences. As to whether or not one is better than the other? No. In no way shape or form - they are too different. You might get some here who'll say that the Cali is better, but go to the 488 forum and try to ask that very same question and see what happens.

Totally different cars. In the Cali forum, my guess is that most of us will say pick the Cali T for all the same reasons that each of us chose the Cali over other F cars...

    Such as:
    Beautiful
    Drop top
    Great performance
    More practical than 488/458

What do you mean by that? BTW, the 488 is also turbocharged and of course a much more extreme car.

Depends at how you would use your car. Cali T and 488 are totally different style of car. I love the 488 style which is more aggressive and stunning but for daily use, I recommend Cali T

I went with the Cali before going to the 458. I am so glad I did too. If you never owned a Ferrari, the 458 and soon the 488 will be very intimidating as a first Ferrari. The Cali T is a magnificent car that you can drive anywhere and it is much more spacious inside than 488. If you intend to track the car, I would get the 488 (not that you can't track the Cali). The 488 spider will be another year away and the wait list will be a mile long with people that have bought multiple Ferraris. Best of luck in your decision.

+1. California was nice bridge between my 911 and 458 spider. The 458 is as good a daily driver as the California although it feels lower and wider, the doors swing out farther and one sits lower. At least in my cramped garage its more effort getting out of the spider and im younger than the average Fcar owner. Rear visibility is compromised by the buttresses but i love the cab forward view with the midengine. Maybe get the California and place a deposit on the 488 spider. Even as a preferred client you are still a couple yeaes away from taking delivery. As a first time buyer you might be 3+ years out.

Cali T. It's the 3rd not 2nd turbo - 288 & F40. Like the others said, depends on what you want - practical, high performance fun or extreme supercar. Both are great choices.

But the turbo in the Cali T is such a completely new approach. New technology and implementation.

I think it deserves to be called Ferraris first modern turbo. Hopefully it will be reliable.

    ( the 288 GTO and f40 are 30 and 20 years old)

you could always get a 360 or f430 and send it off to be fitted with a twin turbo system
