Hey - I have a 2016 California T with a dead battery, I bought a Ferrari battery charger (pic attached), the instructions just say plug in the 12v to the car. You see how it's a flat 2-pin connector? What does that connect to in the California T? Thanks!

update: I figured this out from the following video. But now I have a red blinking light right away when I plug in the charger. What do I do?

A battery tender, whether from Ferrari or any other company,is not designed to charge a dead battery. Take a look in your Owner's Manual to see what to do about a dead battery ( I have a different model,so I don't want to tell you what my manual says). And a standard lead-acid battery that has been allowed to go dead is often not capable of being revived.

The plug in your photo is attached via magnet in the battery tender port at the back of the car to the left of the license plate. The receiver is in underside of the lip of the trunk lid, not visible when standing. After plugging in the plug (with wire at 6 o'clock as viewed standing behind car) then plug in the tender.

I have exactly the same charger but use it on a Portofino. On the Porto the connector is to the left of the trunk (boot) opning at the rear end.
I admit, it may be different on a Cali.

Incidentally, if your battery is flat the Ferrari charger will not charge it. The F charger is just a trickle charger, meant to keep the car topped up only. strongly suggest you get another battery. depending on how deep your discharge is, you will never get a completely discharged battery to its max again.

This part is described as a charger, not a trickle charger or a tender - it should fully charge a battery in 2 hours. But yeah it may not work on a totally dead battery.

After you jump start it, tender should work again unless battery tests bad.

I’ve taken to accepting bad battery tests. Probably replaced forty batteries.

i think you're right that the battery has to be changed unfortunately... then the question is how to do that, since the car is in a garage at the bottom of a steep curved driveway with no tow access. I guess I ask a dealership if they can send a guy to do it here.

The battery location on the T makes it not difficult to replace. A search will turn up videos. And another search will give you better battery choices than the factory battery.

Whatever you end up with for a battery, remember the advice that is all over this forum:use the battery tender/maintainer. Because of where my car is parked,I connect the tender every other day. It only takes about one hour, and I never have battery issues. Best is to have the tender connected whenever the car is parked at home.

Does anyone have recommendations on a battery replacement on the California T? I tried searching all over and couldn't find anything except for the older Californias. Most manufacturer websites all say nothing is compatible but I know thats not true. This seems like such a simple DIY but most shops are quoting 2 hours of labor which makes no sense either. Any help is greatly appreciated since I know the factory batteries are known to be garbage.

You might look at Interstate Batteries MTX-49/H8 to see if it fits your needs. My 2016 Cali T has had an Interstate Batteries MT5 AGM (MT5-49/H8) for over two years.

If you want to spend more money and have lithium, look at Braille and Antigravity (I have had a Braille in one car for five years and have a Braille on order for my Portofino). My dealer (Ferrari Silicon Valley) installs Interstate AGMs instead of the factory battery.
