Good question. I love my Z06 and it’s amazing, but it did cost a pretty penny over the SR I traded in on it. To me, it was worth it but you’re having a SR and an Speciale kind of changes the mix…there you could use the Speciale for the weekender and the SR for a daily/traveler. I’d say if you’re fine with the SR in that role, then you might be better off staying put.

The Z06 has that amazing motor and handles better than the SR (though unless you track it or drive like a lunatic on the street it’s gonna be pretty similar) and to me looks better, but it does have some degradation in ride qual, much poorer fuel economy (figure -8 mpg or more depending), and a lot more road noise…but man, that motor is a honey. But the Speciale’s is as well, sooo…kind of offsets the pain. Now if you’re going to track it, that would be a plus, would be less stressful to track the Z06 than the Speciale from a loss perspective.

I can't imagine ever going back to a SR after experiencing the z06 - the two are much more different than I expected, and I haven't hit the five hundred mile mark yet.

If I had a modern exotic in the garage, however, I probably wouldn't have lusted after the z06.

The premium I paid was worth every penny to me, but I paid sticker.

The engine sounds alone are worth 50k to me.

I got about 200 miles in above the 500 mile break in and have to admit the car is a lot of fun. Never owned a SR so I can’t compare directly. The $75k sounds high given that Z06s are rolling off the line now. I feel lucky to get a MSRP deal on a Z07.

I would never pay over MSRP for any car and will never understand those who do.
Why pay more than you should, just be patient, wait and order exactly the spec you want at MSRP instead of making sacrifices and spending more just to "have it now".
I'd keep the extra money and wait patiently as I have no fear of missing out and as you said the SR is great which makes it even easier to wait in my opinion.
I love my SR and when my allocation comes up, I am sure I will love the new Z06 as well and I won't be ripped off in doing it and no matter how you want to look at it over MSRP is ripping you off.

I had the C8 and now the Z06 and these cars are very different. The C8 is great, but it seems so tame compared to the Z06 which just wants to scream and go fast. Super impressive engine.

If you haven't seen Engineering Explained YouTube video on this engine, you really should watch it. You will get a special appreciation for the engineering that went into this engine. Incredible.

Since I have your attention guys…what do you think is a reasonable trade in offer on my C8 SR?
‘23 Z51, magna ride, red mist, black/tan interior, black roof/nacelles, front lift, bronze wheels, ceramic pro, front clear bra including rockers/sills, and window tint.
    3100 miles, literally perfect condition.
    MSRP $105K. Ceramic/bra/tint $5K.

Just trying to figure what could theoretically be my very best price difference (MSRP minus reasonable trade in value). Your real world experience is more valuable to me than KBB.

I’m guessing that being content with $95K is reasonable.

    Thanks!

In Pa there’s a tax advantage for trade-in.

The offers I had on my 22 were about the same when the tax was taken into consideration, so I traded in. It was the path of least resistance.

95k sounds good to me; you probably couldn’t have driven a Kia for what your stingray cost you.

Seriously?! Wow! That's quite a statement.

I haven't had a chance to drive my car to see if I prefer it over my 430 Scuderia.

I was cross-shopping the ZO6 with cars I'd rather have and couldn't justify spending 3 times the amount of the ZO6.

My list was 765LT, 488 Pista, 992 GT3 RS (with $100K ADM), and the 458 Speciale.

I'm hoping I made the right choice. :)

I put about 60 miles on it today…absolutely unbelievable car! I’m shocked, it is nothing like the Stingray..nothing. I even think it is more comfortable for some reason, maybe seat is a few mm lower?
Tight, focused, amazing sounds, great tech. It has it all. When people say you don’t cross shop a vette to a Ferrari I say BS…the Z06 is definitely in the mix.

I was interested in the bid price, seems like the premiums are ending. although thie car I listed above had 111 miles and would be a warranty delete. Seems like the flipping story is coming to an end, and those who are not really serious owners are getting out while they can. ,Imo thats a healthy market then.

There’s also been a glut of cars bought by flippers here lately on BAT. The Z07 aero has been under constraint for awhile. They built a bunch of them incomplete until the gear became available and released a number of the delayed ‘23 cars in the last month. And so the flippers are all selling at once, thus shooting themselves in the foot lol. Cars with warranty are doing better for sure, but overage is definitely way below where it was in summer. Wondering what spring is going to bring.

Bro in a lot of ways it’s much better. They crushed the styling. It looks so aggressive. The tech is a joy. If I get in and it’s cold out the heated steering wheel comes on, seats warm, I didn’t have to set any of that up, the car just cares haha. Plus it sounds amazing and goes plenty fast enough. Wait until you can rev it out. The pull above 6500 is GREAT especially in second gear. Second and third gear are the fun gears the acceleration does drop off in 4th-7th. Same with the 458, almost like Chevy took inspiration from its power train…:)

It doesn’t have the rip your face off/scare your soul of the 765LT or probably the 296 but it’s a better overall car. And far more usable. Perhaps that extra performance is where the additional $250k live. Idk.

On the comment of comfort above as well, the track mode in the Z06 is firmer but no less comfortable. The sport is more comfortable than tour which is too floaty. That means the suspension parts are much higher quality than the base SR.

if any of you guys are on the fence or hoping prices come down $10k 6 months from now etc, stop it. You could not be here 6 months from now. This car is amazing. For any price. And for the price it exists it’s really incredible. I’m never selling mine. At $400k I wouldn’t sell it. I’m going to plow miles on it. It’s going to be the NA car in my collection I pass down one day.

I've said elsewhere that I have no experience with modern exotics, so it's great to hear from someone that does. Thanks for posting your thoughts.

I'll hit the 500 mile mark tomorrow - supposed to be decent weather, and I have a particular stretch of road in mind.
