    Hey guys, i wanted to start this thread to see what you F guys out there think of the Z06 in terms of performance, and performance only. Please try and not get in the whole "Ya, it is still a vet" because we all know that this is a Corvette. Lets talk strictly performance, what do you think would happen in a race between these two cars-The F430 and the C6 Z06 in regards to 0-60,100,150, 1/4 mile, braking, handeling, etc..

    I know the car isnt out yet, but this is just for fun and specualtion based on the things we know about the car. Whatcha think?

    Not really. And i can read, i just dont think you understood. I asked strictly about performance and asked not to get in the whole "Ya, it is still a vet". meaning, (I figured you would know what i mean by this-not very hard to comprehend) Not to say things like "If I chose, what would I pick? If a Vette did 0-60 in 1 second, and 1/4 mile in 5 seconds, I would still pick the 430."

    I would pick a Ferrari too, and i think many in their right minds will too, but this isnt what this thread is about. I just wanted to know what you gyus thought strictly in terms of performance..no need to get into, "ya, i still wouldnt get one of you paid me" blah blah

    Oh, and you cant possibly stereotype me, i am not 55 yrs old yet in a vet..:)

    Oh, and I think around a track the F430 will have a *slight* edge. The car have very similar performance characteristics but I think the F430 will have that *extra* bit of feedback that allows the driver to push that much harder.

    1/4 mile Trap Speed: Vette
    1/4 mile ET: Vette
    0-60: Vette (515lbs/ft torque!)
    0-100mph: Tie; Ferrari probably has a more slippery shape
    0-150mph: Torque, again
    Top Speed: Vette
    Braking: The Vette has more rubber and 6 pot calipers /w ind pads
    Skid Pad: Vette
    Slalom: Dunno 345s out back.
    Confidence while handling: Have you ever driven a c5 z06?
    Modability: Vette.

    I think the normal C6 Corvette should be compared to the F430 not the Z06 C6 and F430.

    So the 430 can have an easier chance at domination?

    Just saw this on another f-chat thread on Road & Track test of the 430.

    " New Road and Track with the F430
    I just got my January issue of Road and Track. They road tested the new F430.

    This thing is a beast!

    All aluminum body and frame, 483hp, 198 mph, 0-60 in 3.5 seconds, 1/4 mile in 11.7 seconds."

    Not bad!

    No way!! A F430 would destroy a C6.

    C6 is a mid-high 12 second car. F430 is a high 11 sec car! No comparison between the 2 imo in regards to any performance aspect

    Here is what i think:

    Trap speed: Very close, giving the edge to the Z06 (124 is my prediction)
    ET: Z06..11.5-11.6 from showroom floor is my prediction
    0-60: F430, it will probably have better gears
    0-100: Z06
    0-150: Z06
    Braking: with 6 piston front calipers and 4 in the rear, Z06
    Skid Pad: Z06
    Slalom: I dont know
    Handeling: Close call! The Z06 might break in the low 7:40's at Nurburgring.
    Modability: Z06

    The only numbers we have on the F430 come from the slighty downhill straight at Fiorona. I quote from C&D's article "with some help from Ferrari's Fiorano test track (the straightaway turns slightly downhill halfway though, and tests were only allowed in one direction-north)"

    1/4 mile Trap Speed: Vette
    1/4 mile ET: Vette
    0-60: Ferrari
    0-100mph: Vette
    0-150mph: Vette
    Top Speed: Vette
    Braking: Vette
    Skid Pad: So close that it won't matter
    Slalom: So close that it won't matter
    Confidence while handling: Ferrari
    Modability: Vette.
    Brings in the most tail: Ferrari

    And well know that that last one makes up 90% of the score ;)

    Oh my god! I thought the lambo guys were just making that up and were in denial. So it is true and these numbers are not a true representation of the F430?? Hmm..Do you think it is capable of hitting 11's on a straight track?

    What do you think the real 0-60, 0-100, 1/4 ET and trap would be given a straight track?

    Anybody know what is the final gear ratio for this car?

    I think the Z will be faster and have more grip. A CS version of the F430 might give it the edge.

    c6 is a 911 competitor.

    zo6, f430, gallardo, viper & ford gt are all on the same page.

    Stoplight drag racing = Vette

    Anything on a track = 430

  21. Aureus

    Aureus Formula 3

    Final Drive Ratio = 4.30:1, limited slip
    I = 3.29
    II = 2.16
    III = 1.61
    IV = 1.27
    V = 1.03
    VI = 0.82

    I'm not mechanically inclined but I think that was what you were asking for.

    *cough* I think you forget a few 911s there. Like say the Turbo, the GT3, the GT2 and the upcoming 997 Turbo. They're all there on that same page with the F430, maybe the GT2 and the GT3 are on the *next* page.

    GT2, same general performance range as F430; GT3 much more comparable to the CS, and closer to the 360 than the 430.

    I think the F430, which we have no accurate performance information on, is going to be on the same page as the GT3. That same page includes the C6Z06 and the 360 CS. I think the GT2 might be on the next page, for that I await track times and *accurate* reporting on the F430s abilities. Unless you really think the F430 is actually going to be faster than the F50.

    Why? Opting for a regular C6 model is like opting for a Maserati instead of a Ferrari. The best Vette vs the best 8-cyl Ferrari sounds like a good comparison in my book and I like neither of them (well, I like the Vette more than the 430, at least).
