I am new to the forum and have several questions if anyone can help. I am looking at buying a preowned California. As long as I get one that is after 2012 I know I get the remaining 7 year on the maintenance that Ferrari offers correct? I am looking at the 2013-2014 range. What is the standard warranty?

What are your thoughts on buying from a Ferrari dealership vs lets say a Lamborghini dealership in town. I noticed the Lamborghini dealership offers the same year Ferrari at a cheaper price. As long as it is under warranty would that be safe or is it better to spend the extra and get directly from the dealership I would probably service it at.

Does anyone have experience with Boardwalk Ferrari in Dallas and how is the ownership experience of a Ferrari California?

I'm thinking that an Fcar from a Lambo shop can't be a CPO car, only from a Ferrari dealer.
This implies that you get the CPO inspection and fixes from a Ferrari dealership which adds "some" value to the car, not to mention peace of mind. Plus a CPO car comes with a Ferrari one year warranty, more if you want to purchase more. Also when failures occur (and they will) the Ferrari dealer will have both a history of the car and a vested interest in keeping you coming to them for repairs.

Others, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong :)

I could be wrong as well ... but my understanding is Ferrari dealers can mark cars as "certified" which means they have qualified for an extended warranty that you can purchase if you desire, not necessarily that the warranty is included with the car. Some dealers may include the extended warranty in the price, others may not.

Any Ferrari (within the age and mileage limits) regardless of where it is purchased, can be taken to an authorized Ferrari dealer and you can purchase an extended warranty on it if it passes their inspection. If the original 3-year factory warranty has not expired, you may extend it by one or two additional years for full coverage. The extended warranty if the car is not under the original warranty is called the New Power warranty and it does not cover the entire car.

I'm not sure what exactly disqualifies a given car, but I would assume something like missed servicing, modifications or accident damage might preclude you, so it is probably a good idea to do a PPI at a Ferrari dealer and ask if it would qualify for the warranty. I would essentially use the warranty inspection as part of the PPI process.

I would be leery of an aftermarket warranty on a Ferrari, personally. I extended the warranty on my 2013 California when it was due to expire because I felt it was worth it for the bumper-to-bumper coverage.

I appreciate the advice, it sounds like it might be best to pay the extra and do a CPO at a Ferrari dealership. I think I would rather have that piece of mind.

The dealership by me does the "Ferrari approved" program which is essentially an extra year of warranty so that sounds like my best bet

All else being equal - color, options, warranty status, financials - I'd go through an authorized dealer. I'd even pay up to a 10% premium to keep it in the F-car dealer network, for my own peace of mind.

I own a Cali, and have it serviced at Boardwalk. From our perspective, it's surpassed any ownership experience that my wife and I have had in the past - Ford, Honda, Mercedes, Porsche...T

That's encouraging to hear because that is where I was looking to purchase and service my car.

Did you buy new or CPO? Are you happy with the Cali?

CPO. For a first Ferrari purchase it gave my wife and I peace of mind to have the warranty. I plan on extending it when the one year CPO warranty is up.

We're ecstatic with the Cali. It's a great first Ferrari. 6K miles in 7 months. Sound is awesome. Steering great. Handles like a dream. A great GT. It is relatively low key as far as Ferrari go, but still has that sense of occasion. We waited, researched, shopped around, etc. until we saw THE ONE. Avorio over chocolate with contrast diamond stitching. The wife and I were driving it all over Dallas and Fort Worth today with the top down, enjoying the unseasonably warm weather. Never has shoe shopping with the missus been so enjoyable! [emoji3]

I wish you luck in your search.
