Does anyone know if there has been a thread on replacing the front and rear bushings (all of them)? I have never done bushings before and my car has some terrible shakes at 65-75mph. To my knowledge they are original. Also, where is the best source for the kits?

Bushings will help, but my money is on your steering rack and rack mounting bushings there.
That can make a horrifying shudder at freeway speeds in the steering whell.

The thing to know about the A arm bushings is that they are tack welded in.
    So be aware of that..

    Good luck!

Check the wheel bearings - if they are original they might need a nut adjustment or replace them - I just replaced all my bushings last winter - simple - just grind off the weld and press them out / in and tack weld them again.

Thanks, Tex. The shaking is all in the sterring column. The rest of the car seems pretty solid. The alignment is good (stays straight as an arrow when you let go of the wheel). I had the wheel bearing replaced when I had the calipers and brake lines and master cylander replaced. So, I'll look into the steering rack. I'm about to need new tires, so it would be good to resolve this first.

Do you have aftermarket wheels. I always remind those that do that you must use the plastic centering rings on the fronts. Or you get the shakes.

If you are going to do the suspension bushings, or work on the rack,

Have someone that knows what they are doing check the tie rods for looseness.

Look for any leakage or tears in the steering rack rubber boots.

Look for any slop in the anti-roll bar mounts or the drop links.

How are the shocks and their bushings??? This is the ideal time to upgrade to externally adjustable shocks and or stiffer springs.

Don't forget to clean and lube the rear upright bushings and washers.

While the uprights are off, check for looseness or play in the rear hub bearings.

If you have the rear arms off for rebushing, How about replacing the axle boots and lubing the CV joints.

    Regards,
    chris

Maybe just a balance weight fallen off?
