KLINE VALVETRONIC EXHAUST SYSTEM FOR FERRARI 360

As the successor to the Ferrari 355, the Ferrari 360 embodies the essence of a true driver’s machine. With its flat plane crank V8 engine generating 395 horsepower and an impressive 8500 RPM redline, it delivers exhilarating performance. While the factory exhaust note is satisfactory, there is substantial potential for enhancement, along with the opportunity for compelling weight reduction.

THE SOUND

Through the removal of the heavily chambered rear silencer and the substitution with their lightweight Inconel 625 rear section, the weight of the exhaust is significantly reduced to only one-third of the stock system. Incorporating their signature 1D CLR X pipe design raises the pitch of the exhaust, resulting in the iconic high-pitched F1 scream that enthusiasts crave. When the valve is closed, the exhaust gases are intelligently channeled through their harmonically tuned silencer, delivering a smooth driving experience that closely mirrors the stock setup without any drone on the highway. However, upon opening the valve, the silencer is completely bypassed, allowing the raw power of the X pipe to unleash that exhilarating, high-pitched F1 scream.

In addition, replacing the stock 600cpsi catalysts with their HJS race catalysts or racing pipes further enhances the exhaust sound, producing an aggressive F1-like tone. The available tips come in a choice of double-skinned Inconel or stainless steel, as well as F1-grade pre-preg carbon fiber, providing both durability and style options. Moreover, they offer equal length headers crafted from either Inconel alloy or stainless steel, which not only enhance the overall sound by adding an extra dimension but also deliver moderate performance gains.

PERFORMANCE

The objective was simple: to create an exhaust that delivered unparalleled performance, sound, and weight savings, utilizing the best available options.

THE SOUND

Starting from the initial stages, the upgrades to the exhaust system were carefully considered. The first improvement involved replacing the stock catalysts with high-performance 100cpsi race catalysts. This modification resulted in a reduction in the gas drag coefficient, improved scavenging, and ultimately enhanced torque response and peak power figures. To further enhance the exhaust system, the heavy and cumbersome factory silencer was replaced with their harmonically tuned ultra-lightweight Inconel 625 silencer. This modification not only enriched both bass and treble frequencies but also significantly reduced weight.

The final and crucial design feature, exclusive to Kline, is their trademark tight radius laminar flow X-pipe. The resulting sound from this design is exceptionally smooth during light driving conditions, transforming into a howling, raucous high-pitched incendiary vocal when desired. Under low revs (valve closure), the gases pass through an acoustically tuned silencer with cross sections optimized to reach the ideal gas velocity for maximum torque. As the successor to the 360 Challenge Stradale, the Ferrari 430 Scuderia introduced remarkable features. With its powerful 4.3-liter V8 engine and impressive 0-100km/h acceleration of 3.6 seconds, it set the standard against which its rivals were measured. When it came to designing the exhaust system for the Scuderia, Kline’s criteria were straightforward: create an ultralightweight exhaust system that would maximize torque and power gains while delivering the ultimate sonic experience.

THE SOUND

At Kline, it was believed that the Factory exhaust for the 430 Scuderia did not adequately showcase the true beauty of this stunning supercar or unlock the full sonic potential of its 4.3-liter V8 engine.

Starting from the drawing board, the first aspect to be upgraded was the replacement of the stock catalysts with high-performance 100cpsi race catalysts. This modification aimed to reduce the gas drag coefficient, improve scavenging, and ultimately enhance torque response and peak power figures. Furthermore, the heavy and cumbersome factory silencer was replaced with a harmonically tuned silencer, resulting in enriched bass and treble frequencies, as well as a significant reduction in weight. One of the most noteworthy design features, exclusive to Kline, was the trademark tight radius laminar flow X-pipe. This innovative addition contributed to an unbelievably smooth sound during light driving conditions, transitioning to a howling raucous high-pitched incendiary vocal when required.

Under low revs (valve closure), the gases were allowed to pass through a chamber and an acoustic ceramic-filled silencer, with cross sections meticulously tuned to achieve optimal gas velocity for maximum torque. Under high load and high revs, the valves opened to unleash optimum power.

To complete the overall look, the Scuderia can be equipped with the Kline Inconel 16M Style Tips, adding the finishing touch of elegance.

Kline exhaust systems are made to order with a typical lead time of roughly 10 weeks from the date of the order. There's also a rush option available that cuts it down to roughly 5 weeks with an additional fee.
