Oh, absolutely. If you can afford the car in the first place, then you can afford new tyres for it. Your life is worth more than $30K.
I went to show a friend this video last night and saw this instead........ This video has been removed due to terms of use violation No more video? Thats a shame.
I'd say, let's get it on!!! Perhaps it would be more "Bugatti-ish" to build a body that payed homage to the "Elektron coupé" and some other Bugatti models as well! More than one model comes to my mind as worthy for such a project!!! For example, what about the Bugatti works car that in November 1936 went on and broke several class records at Montlhéry, including the "hour" at 135.42 mph and the 24 hours at 123.94 mph??!! As another hint, I could point out that one example of this Bugatti type also did win a major race victory in 1937 with Wimille/Benoist at the wheel......and again at a record speed!
You could also choose to use some styling elements or shapes from the Bugatti Type 57S45 of 1937 or perhaps from some of the Type 59GP or 59/50B cars which were in fact very pretty cars!
Yes of course, but I have to scan some of the pics before I can post them! They should be up soon! Best regards Carsten

@Jim G. Although I'm far from being a designer, I will try to sketch out a few ideas I have for a modern day Bugatti that would pay some homage to the "Bugs" of old while also somewhat resembling a modern LMP car! If it would ever be possible to unite this "quick-sketch-idea" with the Veyron "hardware" is beyond me, but anyway I will give it a shot! If nothing else, perhaps it could serve to give us a good laugh Best Carsten
LOL Well, I warned you in advance!!! Please, do not hold me responsible for this design which showed up on my paper after ten minutes of making doodles! Well, at least i tried, but it does not seem to pay a lot of hommage to neither Bugatti or Bentley! Perhaps the designers on the forum can do something more delightful than this!!! What are the real world trade offs regarding an extreme cab forward design? Cab forward means plenty of room for mid mounted engine and transaxle, but that also puts the driver with very little "crumple zone" for safety in the event of a collision.
Or perhaps the other way arround!!! These cars did never run with 16 cylindres and in fact Bugatti never made a V16, but instead a 16 cylinder engine made up of two parallel coupled Bugatti straight eight engines!!! This 16 cylinder engine was used in the Type 45 racing car, and Type 47 which was meant as a super sports car for the road! They were however only made as prototypes, and never went into production! The chasis frame of the Type 47 was however later used for the famous Type 55 Supersport! The Type 57G or "Tank" ran with a tuned but unsupercharged Type 57 3.3 litre straight eight engine!
Now I know where GMC got the idea on how to make their V12 out of two V6 engines! http://www.6066gmcguy.org/TwinSix.htm http://www.6066gmcguy.org/Jolly-702v12.htm
Hmm.... perhaps not, since Bugatti's 16 cylinder was two straight eight engines parallel coupled, but geared together side by side! BTW this outstanding engine (for it's time) had 16 cylinders, fortyeight valves, two crankshafts, two camshafts, twin compressors(one for each engine bank of eight cylinders), and an engine output of arround 250-300 HP!!!
@Jim G. Perhaps you should have a look at this thread, with my latest Bugatti-proposal sketch: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=139088 Sorry for hi-jacking!!! Best Carsten
I just saw the show. I have to admit, its pretty impressive! I'm hoping Ferrari could make a car that could do way more faster than that.
Found this on another board. The quality is better than on "YooToob". http://rapidshare.com/files/15262356/TopGear_Veyron_VMax.wmv.html
Pretty cool video, thanks for sharing all. Bugatti Veyron; when you've exceeded all excess, there's the Veryon. Road and Track Feb 2007 ( look for the Toyota on the cover, someone there needs to be flogged ) lists the tires at 17k, wheels at 43k. 0-60 at 2.6 seconds 1/4 mile at 10.2 seconds. At full tilt it gets 2 MPG. I have to believe in the world of concern over global warming and diminishing resources that this is one of the last of its kind, if not the last. Have to admit that I had a grin the entire running of the video.
