http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/news/57118/veyron_storms_to_2485mph_record.html good read. it'll be better if it was a 250mph....
Interesting. I like the check-up thing. 248mph is very quick indeed, and having the car make sure everything is fine is great. That is really a clever idea. Sounds straightforward and trivial ... but they are the first to do it ... good job.
Clever indeed. TOo bad the car is dead-ugly and built by VW. Though maybe one day a factory in brazil will become underused and they will build it here, and they'll get cheaper.... Still what nobody sees is that unlike for Ferrari (and even more Porsche) for whom it's the SOLE business, a big manufacturer could decide one day just to kill of production of high performance cars because people want MPVs.
Stopping the production will make it a collector (XJ220 anyone?), and yet you will still have a dealer network to service the car. That is a great point ... had not seen it that way.
well one side is, since you have the backing of a big manufacturer....you can count on parts to be thoroughly tested, due to the fact it is from a parts bin........backing from several divisions, IE lambo power, Audi quattro and aluminum, bentley coach work....and many more, since smaller manufacturers specialize without any help they tend to have issues......case in point if buying a ferrari no one would really look into a high mileage ferrari....80,000 to 100,000 they just assume that the car will not last longer.....due to it being a performance car....... I would rather have a car backed by a major manufacturer then one by a low output speciality firm
