Prices as of 9/4/2008. Last time I had a real enquiry.

    Speed Key $2457.67
    Key with Leather $4476.28

I suppose prices are about the same comparing other parts required on that quote to parts
    recently purchased.

Just to clear up, there is no Valet on the Veyron. Only the speed key. The HP is not limited when not using the speed key. The speed key only puts the car into Top Speed mode.

As well, the car can be detuned to 850hp by any Bugatti service facility. This allows the customer to use pump gas instead of 100 octane. The customer can do this from the Handheld device once, in an emergancy to get to a 100 octane station. Next key cylce, it will return to 1001 hp.

While I didn't take a photo of the valet key for the Veyron, there is one that came with the car.

Also, the 100 octane tune isn't necessary in most states that run 93/ 94 octane.

So I suppose the valet key that was delivered with the Veyron is a fraud?

As a Bugatti Dealer, Here is a email from the Factory and myself.

As well, Valet keys purpose is to limit access to locked compartments. There are no locks inside to limit access to the Center Cubby, or the glove box, or the front compartment. Therefore, a Valet key is not required.

The key as I remember it being about 15$ +- that wasn't silver, nor leather wrapped.

I will concede that perhaps it was another car that the valet key limited speed to 5mph.

If you are the registered owner of a car, it is a very simple process for us to order a key. You would be required to send us documents verifying the ownership of your vehicle. If you are not the registered owner of a Veyron, it is not possible to my knowledge.

The owner’s manual is approximately $1595. I would have to verify the price as the quote I have is a few months old and the prices change often.

high quality paper, leather bound, and printed in the owners specific language alone (unlike RR/Bentley/Ferrari etc.) I'm not sure if the manual also includes the history of Bugatti book, and a detailing of the construction of a Veyron as well). As to the price, IMO, it is not worth 1600$ ... but, if you have a Bug, it is a nice thing to have :)

For current model year Bentley CGT (as an example), they offer the following print for their owners manual:

    France
    Germany
    Spain
    UK
    ROW (rest of world) English
    Italy
    Middle East
    USA
    Canada French
    Japan
    Chinia
    South Korea
    Mexico
    Euro English
    Ukraine
    Russia
    Greece
    Turkey
    Latvia
    Romania
    Czech
    Taiwan
    Poland
    Brazil
    Azerbaijan

And this is something the British companies have done for a while (RR/Bentley/Aston Martin)

Bugatti does this as well, just limited in the languages they have in print in comparison.

I saw in a video that you don't really need the top speed key to go in ''top speed mode'' you just need to use the ignition key as the top speed key. So you don't really need the top speed key when you own a Bugatti.

Did a bit of research on this last night…. That car appears to have not been truly put into Top Speed Mode. According to not only the owner’s manual, but the service manual, both keys are required for top speed mode. The factory may not have let Mr. Clarkson experience Top Speed mode :)
Once the key is removed, Top Speed mode is canceled out.

Below is straight from the Owners Manual
