found this pic online....looks great IMO.....even if the metal had engine turning detail on it, would look good too Image Unavailable, Please Login
The piece shown in this thread looks like something that was simply licensed to carry the Bugatti name, but this is where the real relationship between Bugatti and furniture comes in: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carlo_Bugatti http://www.1stdibs.com/furniture_search.php?i_creator=Carlo+Bugatti http://www.apartmenttherapy.com/ny/retrospect/carlo-bugatti-furniture-as-futuristic-sculptureretrospect-109055 http://rarevictorian.com/2009/05/carlo-bugatti-a-century-ahead-of-his-time.html?show=gallery Real Bugatti chairs: Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
LOL ....like a Frank Lloyd Wright chair, even he admitted they were designed for looks over comfort ....there are lots of Bugatti named or inspired furniture it looks like, the #1 post i can't re-find the link, was Bugatti-inspired likely....looks good though!

A number of years ago there was a museum exhibition featuring Carlo, Rembrandt, Ettore and Jean's work. Quite wonderful. I have the associated book somewhere.
that's it thanks.... .......after i did my kids bedroom furniture i drew up several designs based on vintage classic automotive greats....i don't mean like the fiberglass cobra or 55 chev seats.....i still have plans to work on those in the near future.....
No scans available but the book is The Amazing Bugattis" produced by Barrons in 1979 (where do the years go?) to go with the exhibition at the Royal College of Art in London.
interesing.....you don't want to know how young i was in 1979! LOL ....seriously though, i've just been reading "the allure of the automobile, driving in style 1930-1965, ken gross/ronald labaco" .....great glossy pics & decent read IMO
Restoration Hardware. I've spent way too long in their stores before. Their leather couches are unbelievable. http://www.restorationhardware.com/catalog/category/products.jsp?categoryId=cat1701068
You have it wrong.......the Bugatti cars were the last generation of craftsman family. It was his father IIRC that made the furniture.... And his brother sculpted animals in the Paris zoo, commiting suicide when the Germans overan Paris and shot them all.....
Carlo the father made the arabesque furniture. Rembrandt, Ettore's brother sculpted bronze animals and did commit suicide. Jean Ettore's son who died in a road accident was a superb body designer.
uh, no, i didn't state anything specific about the bugatti families particulars....i said there are lots of links online about bugatti 'named' furniture (licensed or authentic) and others "inspired"
ya, i saw those links in my searches....neat stuff....the #1 post chair isn't one, it's just an "inspired" piece, but looks good non-the-less IMO
Visla, you are 100% on the Voisin reference. The chair, regardless of marketing ad copy, just does not evoke Bugatti. Nothing there to connect to Carlo, probably would be made of more sophisticated materials if it was trying to tie in with the EB110 or later models. I would think it evokes more of an aviation theme ala Restoration Hardware's other aluminum and distressed leather chairs. Their chairs are comfortable, would look great in a FBO office or nostalgia lounge...Vive la marque....
We just got a few R/H pieces and like the quality/design/price ratio there but they only evoke the real deal. The Carlo Bugatti furniture was a part of a much broader design trend of the time. Arabesque furniture of the most extreme style was often found in Victorian homes then.
i love this place....these guys "design" a chair whose shape is basically rectilinear with a flat wrap plane and name it after the most famously curvilinear bugatti ever made.....more like a type 32 tank chair.... i weep for the future....
