It is the spark plug extension. You can buy them from David at AW Imports.

Thanks for the quick response. I was just about to post that I think it's the extension, so I guess that settles it.

Maybe you can explain something else. The plugs are Champion RN2C; which I believe have a built-in resistor (similar to the NGK BR8ES). I checked the resistance on another (intact) extension, and I do not see any resistance. Are there non-resistor extensions? Maybe this one failed because it was modified?

Side note, I was able to get that cylinder to fire by simply removing the broken extension, adding a spare spark plug terminal nut, and attaching the ignition wire directly to the plug.

Yes, you need a non-resistor extension. They did it for audio concerns, not how the car runs.

Do you know where I can find a non-resistor extension? The versions I have found (Superformance, Maranello Classic Parts, AW, etc.) all seem to be offering the version with a resistor (109357). I'm thinking of just getting the resistor extensions, and just getting non-resistor spark plugs. Any ideas?

If you get the one with the resistor and the non-resistor spark plugs you will have less noise in your radio. That is the easiest way to go. I have a customer named Don Bartz. He is on Ferrari Chat. He has a boxer, and might be a good one to consult as well. He is very informative.

My boxer doesn’t have extenders, the wires connect directly to the plugs.

Thanks, I was curious if people were doing that. I did that for the one cylinder where the extension broke. The ignition wire is pulled kind of tight, but it works.

I think I may do that. I'll keep some resistor plugs around just in-case a resistor extension breaks and I need to connect the wire directly to the plug. I guess a lot of this is pretty moot since my "stereo" is the exhaust.

    Thanks for the help, everyone.

To wrap this up, I purchased all new spark plug extensions; which have the 5k resistor. I also installed all new NGK BP7ES plugs (no resistor). I also purchased all new spark plug "bulb covers", as some of them had gotten warped from the heat after not being properly aligned.

Not sure what the person was thinking who modified each of the extensions to remove the resistor, but it seems to have compromised the durability.
