Hi all, Does anyone know a good British car machanic in Upstate NY? esp near the Albany area? Dads Aston DB7 needs a clutch bleed... Thanks!
Curt: Just moved from there last year. That's a tough one though. Most exotic sports car folks used German AutoHaus in Burnt Hills for years under Martin Steiger but it changed hands ages ago. Still worth a call or a drive over: Auto Haus Motors Quick check online brought up: Jaguar Repair by The Gas Menagerie in Troy, NY | JagShops.com over in Troy, NY or, about an hour and a half south is Full-Service British Car Repair Facility Serving the Hudson Valley and Northern Metro New York Region. There is a British/Jag shop over in Pittsfield, MA but a very good friend says avoid them like the plague. Major pissing match over an XJS. So your dad instilled in you your love of sports cars? And still inspires?
Thanks guys! Appreciate the heads up. I called him today and of course the car is driving better... now that he's actually driving it! He's on Saratoga road, not far from Auto Haus. So that works well. I've heard of the Jag place in Troy. Will tell him to avoid the place in MA. His DB7 Volante is pearl black with crema interior. Nice car but not my style. British engineering is not my cup of tea personally. Though I do like the DB7's. If it's the red DB6 at Bobby Ensigns.. saw that online and that's a really nice car! I know a guy who has one in Silver. It's sweet. My dad being an engineer and being a child of the 80's taught me two things: 1) engineering is a beautiful thing. Knowing HOW things are done and appreciating hwo mechanically things can be functional and beautiful.. that's my 360 to a "T" 2) Cars are status symbols and greed is good! . First, it was Porsches. Now it's the ultimate (IMHO) Ferrari. I'll always be an eighties yuppie at least on the inside. Thanks Guys!
Donavan is the place in Pittsfield, Lenox actually. Heard a story about an attorney who took his high dollar racing alfa out of there for a test ride to "make sure it was fixed" and did not go back to pay, lol. Some other stories as well. They do have the most successful racing e types out there though.
