I'm looking for some feedback on the 3 day racing course from the Bridgestone Racing Academy at Mosport. It looks pretty good, but I haven't heard from anyone who has actually taken the course. How are the instructors and course content? The cars look pretty amazing (08 Van Diemen Formula cars).

I've been considering the same course, and have the same questions.

I've taken advanced driver/autocross schools, but they would not let me bring my vintage single seat formula car (they have an instructor drive with you).

I have yet to find a school that will let me drive my own single seater. It is street legal so i have a lot of street seat time but i would like track seat time so that i would feel comfortable enough to run with the VARAC boys at Mosport. I may take the Bridgestone course anyhow and just attend some track day events with my car afterwards to get some seat time once the skill set is in place.

I took the course several years ago and then did a lapping day with them at the training track at Mosport. It quaifies you for a novice racing license if you pass a medical. Course is very professionally run with lots of track time and individual instruction. The F2000 cars are quite something in cornering and stopping, but slow in acceleration. They are a very tight fit for anyone over 190lb.They encourage you to go to the limit, but the 2 or 4 wheel off course penaties are stiff and can add up if you dont exercise discretion. If you have never taken a winged car around a corner its worth the experience. I saw your post in Rennlist, I have tracked my 993,but it can be a lot more fun when its not your own car, especially when you lose a little grip near the pit wall. The session ends with a mock race, full race start,no passing in the first corner.I wish I were 21 again and the reflexes were quicker.

Thanks guys. I'm going to do a racing school this summer, and I'm leaning towards the Bridgestone Academy. It looks like they've eased up on the fines for "wheels-off" incidents, as well as capped your damage liability. But of course, I won't have to worry about that :p
