Well, it's finally done... After countless hours, days, weeks, months, i've finally finished it... and i'm posting it here, for everyone's benefit:

    2819 - 250 GT SWB, Drogo-rebody - currently owned by Monte Shalett.

i'll even post pictures that go with this registry (um, it's the one next to the NNO)...
    :D

(Ok, ok, i'm going to bed now... Was just having a little fun...)

Carbon, Carbon, Carbon - I don't even know where to begin - how about w/ the s/n for starters? I'm pretty sure there is a "GT" after those four digits. and then there's the complete lack of . . . oh, you were kidding?

well, get back to work before Carol beats your ass!

OK, Carbon...1/100 scale, handmade, hand-painted, etc. (These are his "big" models -- I have quite a few in 1/200, and 1/250 scale as well.)

    The faf keychain rocks.
I remember that place in the 70s as a true enthusiast's heaven.
    What great memories...

faf means ferrari-alfa-fiat and was THE italian car dealership in Atlanta since the 70's. Started by enthusiast friends from Atlanta and Birmingham, it was on the seedy side of Tucker GA behind some RR tracks and grain silos on a dead end circle. But there lived true enthusiasm. Was later sold and became the now glitzy Ferrari of Atlanta.
They had some remarkable cars and more remarkable people.

How old is the breadvan model? I thought these models, made of dental plaster, were no longer being made..

Ferrari had so much success with their Breadvan that Fiat decided to try their luck with an Eggvan! Here Commendatore "Henzo" is seen with the prototype.

    Stu,

Ken Dolton ceased making Roadace models six or seven years ago, when his age finally got to him. I have some of the last he made which were exclusively for me: a pair of 333 SPs and a 348 Challenge in 1/100. As you know very few collectors in the US are familiar with his work, as he made relatively very few pieces. I have about 200 models, plus one of the original five dealer sales cases he made, a Roadace game (which was the basis for the models), and a number of special pieces.

I've also seen his own stuff: a complete tabletop track layout of LeMans, and a complete grid plus transporters (parked behind the scale garages), etc. It's played as a strategy game; playing just in the evenings the 24 hours of the race takes several weeks.

And Carbon, no, sorry, none of these is for sale. (Well, OK, I have some spare D-Jaguars and a Chaparral, but no Ferraris. Especially not a Breadvan.)

200 Roadace models? That's probibly the biggest collection in the world! I have all of 3 (all Alfas)! I don't know if I like the Roadace or the RD Marmande models better. They both have a great deal of charm...

    Stu,

I think there's limited interest in this topic, and if we continue it probably should be in the Models section, but just to finish up:

I think that Hank Hammer probably has a few more Roadaces than I do (for those who don't know of Hank, he bought a separate HOUSE for his Porsche model collection, the finest in the world). My own taste runs more to Roadaces than RD Marmands; I think the craftsmanship is better, particularly at the smaller scale. (The material difference is irrelevant when finished.)

In the first photo below, the "big" model is a 1/43 BBR 360 GT. The smaller 1/100 scale models include the 166 MM Barchetta 1949 LeMans winner, Ed Hugus' 250 TR, the Cannonball Daytona, Momo 333 SP, and 348 Challenge, one of the first two cars displayed at Lime Rock in 1993.

The second photo includes some "specials": The top ones are again in 1/100 scale, and include a special 641/2 chassis 119, with Prost winning the 1990 French Grand Prix, Ferrari's 100th GP victory. Another special pairs the 512 S and Porsche 917K from the 1970 season. In the smaller 1/200 scale are the two 250 SWBs of Parkes and Moss from Goodwood (this was made for me as a "Get Well" card when I was hospitalized for a lengthy time, and is so noted on the bottom). The two F1 cars are 1996 310 F1s, for Schumacher and Irvine. Even the helmets are painted in the proper colors, and the camera mounts on top of the roll bars are there....

I only know of one Alfa Ken made (he kept no records), a T33/3. Would you please PM me with information on the three you have? Thanks.

    O.G.

PS: Carbon -- the business card I used to establish scale is just for you (and for Carol). Free advertising, I guess....
