Possibly Ferrari vacuum lines are not connected as well as Porsche and there is a leak somewhere happening???

What kind of fluid? I hope they checked to see if it's actually brake fluid :)

I’ve just returned from dealer and it’s break fluid it originated from shaft from master cylinder. That’s all wet and fluid is on big diaphragm as I look into booster

You're most welcome. Glad they got to the bottom of what was causing your braking issue.

    Car Fixed !!!!

1/. Poor brakes were caused by master cylinder leak into brake booster

2/. P0299 Underperforming turbo caused by stuck open waste gate!! So car performed worse than 458 on low compression

this car was idle and not driven much by prior owner.. which explains damaged o-rings in master cylinder leaking fluid. Lack of use. What caused waste gate to be popped open?

Case closed this is a completely new vehicle !!

I'm thinking about buying a 488 soon and all of the above is scary reading. I'm looking at 2016's with under 7,000 miles which means the cars most likely sat a lot too. I'd hate to have this problem and wondering if I need to have these systems checked thoroughly on the PPI.

It's the first time I hear of them on the 488. Neither of them are common.

With a bad waste gate it should be audible no? No blow off after a rev?

Maybe the second one can mask the first...?

The waste gate sits upstream of the turbine, and controls boost by continuously bleeding off exhaust gas. The blow off valve sits upstream from the compressor and protects the compressor against stalling. So no, you cannot hear a defective waste gate as the exit mixes with exhaust downstream of the turbine section.

Glad Ferrari got to the root case of the problem!

BTW, what brake fluid do you run on your cars for track use? Castrol SRF still the best available?

So I'm convinced that I bought the car with these Two issues. I only drove the car from the closed transport to the Dealer. And when it went to Ferrari of DC. nothing was caught. And after a long drive I then noticed the car would not stop properly.
In addition I was not impressed with the power. My P Car was much stronger.. Now the car pulls like I was expecting from what I had heard about the 488!

Can you please elaborate on master cylinder leak? Was that a simple bolt tightening procedure or did they have to replace the booster and master cylinder? Thanks!

I had to replace master cylinder and booster , sold as one unit. Removing master cylinder showed fluid on the rod which moves in master cylinder and brake fluid inside the booster
