Hi everyone, So I painted my calipers red, and now spider348 ("Frenchman" as we call him locally) has told me that I need Ferrari logos on them so they look totally cool. What I would like is yellow Ferrari logos. Anyone know where I can get a small yellow Ferrari script decal so I don't have to try to stencil it? If not, how about a stencil? Thanks. Birdman
Hi Birdman, Check ebay, "Ferrari Calipers", When i was looking for big brake stuff, i always saw caliper stickers under that heading, or you might also try Brembo Calipers. I scored with a low mile F-50 set of calieprs and 355-32 discs for $700 hth, chris
See the article at www.fca-se.org/conc_17.htm Hi Jonathan -- Your local sign shop can probably do it for you -- most have software that will work with Adobe Illustrator files and can cut you either stencils or bright yellow vinyl decals (email me if you need the .ai file -- I use this as a stencil all the time for doing helmet painting). *OR*, I can have my local sign shop make them for you and mail them to you. Mike
Hey buddy, Is this what you're looking for? It's about 3" long x 3/4 tall. I bought some to do my brakes, like last year. Pizzaman Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hi Birdman, Girodisc is making hats to fit the 355x32 rotors on the stock hubs, as well as brackets to mount the F-50 calipers on the front. Custom rear hats to fit the 360 challenge rotors and corresponding brackets to mount the 360 challenge calipers. This will produce a front brake balance only 2 % less than the stock set up. I will need to either bolt this stuff up and loose the e brake or pull the rear upright and have the front ears spotfaced and tapped, as the rear ears already are. this would let me mount either a 360 rear parking brake caliper or an aftermarket unit like the Mr Parker. I will post pics, prices and comments when the parts arrive. Working with Martin is great, even if it lets me know how much i really don't know. This is even more fun than a full on engine rebuild. Sorry, i almost forgot your question, yes almost anything can be made to fit. I have 18 inch 360 wheels, so i feel confident that the 355s will clear, because Brembo uses identical discs and calipers in their 360 GT brake kit. Further, the 308 mounts the disc and caliper more inboard, so clearance will be no problem. enthusiastiaclly, chris
RTA stickers are the way to go; most sign shops can make them. If you 'weed' them yourself (rather than have the shop do it), you can save some money. I may still have some stickers in 'black' lying around.
Hey Birdy, Might want to be careful about using stickers. The calipers will heat up substantially when used. This may cause stickers to peel off. Post pix whenever you figure out what to do (I know I didn't need to tell you that) Hank
All, Thanks for the ideas and thoughts! Pizzaman, COOL man, what is that, a stencil? Might be too large though. Are those measurements the size of the text?? Does it stick on? I like the idea of using a sticker because well, I suck at painting and I have visions of painting a stencil and having it turn out like crap. But I hear what you are saying about them getting hot. Especially the way I drive, all grandma like, back and forth to the Sunday morning coffee meet we have every week! Lets just say that my 308 doesn't do hard track time. Just a spirited drive a couple times a week and a lot of love and affection in between. (Meaning, I spend money on parts). Mike, I would love the .ai file if you could sent it, that would be great. I will see about getting some vinyl cut. Birdman
Chris, You are a MADman with that brake adventure!! I wish you luck and anxiously await pictures. Looks pretty cool. Sounds like too much work for me! (And honestly, I need bigger brakes like a hole in the head...I just like the way they look!) Birdman
Yeah, it's a stencil. I didn't know they were that big when i bought them. And yes, that size 3"x3/4 is the stencil size. I haven't looked yet, there is no room on those tiny brakes of ours to fit them?
Birdman. Sounds really cool. What kind of paint did you use and what precautions did you take? I'm thinking of doing mine too. Any info would be helpful. THanks Bob
Bob, I used a caliper paint sold by Eastwood. Good stuff! http://www.eastwoodco.com/jump.jsp?itemID=555&itemType=PRODUCT Just make sure that the calipers are CLEAN as can be. Pizzaman, Your stencils are too large. Thanks anyway. I need something only 2" long. I'm talking to a vinyl decal company right now about doing a run of them in various colors. Stand by! Mike, got the logo, thanks! Birdman
I need to do the same thing to mine very soon. I've got silver front calipers with the "P" word on them and red rear that say brembo, but I'd like them all to be yellow and say ferrari. Mike, I could use the logo file too or I'd be even happier to buy stencils from you the next time you have them made. My email is: [email protected] Thanks in advance! I'm trying to figure out a decent parking brake too. I've got a set of mechanical wilwood calipers, but the mechanism pulls the wrong why and is pretty poorly made. I'm about 90% sure I can cut it off and put on a propper mechanism with ball bearing pivots. If I get it figured out, I'll post something to see who else needs a set.
Not Ferrari but these guys have Brembo stencil for brake calipers. http://www.eagleday.com/brcapaki.html The last item on that page is the Brembo stencil. They have Porsche and Brembo and recommend VHT high temp paint for the lettering. I used the Eastwood Caliper paint and have also Powder Coated calipers and simple high temp white paint for the letters.
I'll be having some vinyl stencils made soon for my helmet painting jobs (www.helmet-painting.com) so what I need to know is what LENGTH you want the Ferrari script text, and I'll just add them at that time. They'll be suitable for spraying high temp paint through (works better with stencils than brushing).
Cool! I'll measure what I need and let you know. I just bought the rears and they haven't come yet...I can guess if I need to depending on when you need to know by. Mark
I'll have vinyl stickers for brakes (about 2 inches long) shortly, but no stencils. Stand by....I got plenty. Birdman
Mark, I'm generally getting stuff cut once every two weeks or so. Whenever you're ready, I'd guess that for $10-15 the sign shop will make 6 for me (one spare per axle) weeded and taped (aka, ready to apply and use) so all I have to do is stick them in an envelope and mail them to you. Probably for the same money I can get enough to do 3 cars if others are interested. Anyone who has me paint their helmet... I'll throw in a free set of caliper stickers or stencils!
Sure! Just doesn't say Ferrari. The raised lettering says "ATE" (the manufacturer of the calipers) in small, not very distinct letters!! Birdman
