I had no idea they were even filming this. Interesting as its Jerry Bruckheimer production. Top Gun, Pirates of the Caribbean, The Rock, Bad Boys, etc. All top notch box office.

Pitt has spent the last 18 months bouncing from one Formula 1 Grand Prix to another as he and his co-star Damson Idris film a movie about a retired driver, played by Pitt, who is brought back to help mentor rookie prodigy Joshua Pearce, Idris’ character, for the Apex Grand Prix team.

From a garage in the Silverstone pit lane during the 2023 British Grand Prix weekend to filming at the Hungaroring, Spa, Monza and other circuits, Pitt and Idris have been behind the wheel of modified Formula 2 cars that have been fitted with a Formula One aero package.

The $300 million ‘F1’ movie is being produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and directed by Joseph Kosinski. It is scheduled to be released in cinemas in June 2025.

Will be interesting to see this. It has been in development and filming at F1 circuits this year.

whats the oldest a driver has been racing in F1?
if anyone needs grandpa to show him where the apex is, the kid aint ready.
mentoring is done off the track not during cometition.
    very odd movie scenario.
wonder if Pitt gets the girl?

The teams have paired experienced drivers with rookies. Not sure if it was for mentoring. They had an established baseline driver from which the rookie could be compared. I'm sure the rookie could learn the routine and habits of a professional F1 driver. I don't think the other driver is coaching the rookie.

Examples would be Coulthard and Liuzzi Red Bull, Alonso and Hamilton McLaren, Schumacher and Montoya Williams.

Fangio won his last championship at age 46. Oldest driver to race was Louis Chiron 55 years and 292 days.

I could believe Sonny Hayes is in his 50's.

Fangio didn't even come to Europe until he was 38- so there's hope for Pitt.

Pitt looks about the same age as Alonso is, so it works imo. Of course, half of his job is to look good, so actual age doesn't matter much. I hope it's not as bad as Driven (probably not possible), but if you want some good unintentional comedy, watch the director's commentory of that (it was directed by Stallone even if it says Renny Harlin).

Seems like Pitt isn't the driver but the mentor of a younger driver.

Oldest F1 driver, Louis Chiron, 55years, 292 days old. He later tried to qualify for Monaco at 58 and change but failed to qualify. Fed's 43, Lewis about to be 40. Scott Dixon is 44, and anyone who thinks he couldn't have been an F1 champion in a decent team is delusional. Andretti was 53 when he won his last IndyCar race in 93' when IndyCar was a real rival to F1. Also, and this is a big secret, actors don't always play characters their own age!!!! sshhhhh

No, he’s definitely the driver. You can see footage online of him on the podium at Abu Dhabi and a few other circuits. They’ve been filming at the races for the last 2 years.
From the trailer it looks like the racing parts will be cool and the dialogue and plot will be painful. I’m ok with that!

I'm not sure why they picked Brad Pitt. I don't follow celebs at all, but I never known him to be much of a car guy or a proper driver at all.

Maybe he is supposed to be younger driver in the movie(Alonso age) and will use AI to make him look it.

The movie has all of the pieces to make something really great. The real anoraks will always poke holes but I am optimistic that it will be really good. Certainly the people involved are all top notch and have a background of making good action films. If it is anything like either of the Top Gun movies I'll be thrilled even if a fighter pilot will say it is all fake.

I thought Kylo Ren did a good job in Ferrari. I've watched it a few times now and it really grew on me. Brad Pitt is cool and I trust he'll make the part work. AI can make people look really young now too...look at the latest Indiana Jones.
